November 1, 201114 yr Hello:I am running two computers networked with WIN 7. The networking is ok and folder are shared (everyone).FSX including SP1 and SP2 have been installed the correct way in a folder - C: Drive FS 10. This folder is shared.ASE SP3 (latest version) is installed on the client on the C: Drive in a folder called active sky evolution. This folder is shared.ASE is requesting that I need to install FSX SP1 or SP2 sim connect.I checked my main computer where FSX is installed & in the X86 folder the three sim connect DDL files are there. This folder is also shared.I have no idea!!!! Can someone help me please. Thank you, Iain WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
November 1, 201114 yr Did you check the manual, there are couple of pages dedicated to correct simconnect install. To check if simconnect is installed properly, run FSX, on the remote machine run AI Traffic.exe (search inside SDK folder). If it shows Connected to Flight Simulator: 2, then all is good. If not, you didn't do your homework alright.

Further, half the things they discuss I do not understand. All I know is that the computerd are networked correctly.ÃI Traffic in side the SDK folder - the SDK folder only has 1 and 2 and a several files. None correspond to AI Traffic.I've spent hours on this. I attempted to run FSX on the client PC and the following message appeared - The MSXML 4 SP2 compoent is not installed. Reinstall FSX to restore or repair this missing component.Surely I don't have to reinstall FSX SP 1 & 2 again.... This takes forever doing it the suggested way. I installed everything when I did the install a few days agoIdeas? Thanks, Iain WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator

November 1, 201114 yr Author I carn't answer this. I installed the program from the DVD. If I didn't install the SDK surely the SDK DDL files would not be in the directory??If I did not install the SDK. Can I install from the CD without uninstalling the complete FSX program and reinstalling.I ask this, as I've read many posts that suggest FSX musts be installed a certain way and then left alone, otherwise problems will occur at a later stage.Do I find the SDK on the FSX CD1/2?? Do I need to reinstall SP1 a nd SP2 again?Thank you, Iain WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
November 1, 201114 yr I carn't answer this. I installed the program from the DVD. If I didn't install the SDK surely the SDK DDL files would not be in the directory??Disk1: Folder SDK, install that.http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=10027 - install that. Then go to program files, there should Microsoft Games...SDK folder inside. There you will find also AI Traffic.exeYou have to install simconnect as per instruction:ASE.pdf, Page 52-55, Step 5 is how to test (as I wrote). You have too many questions, but didn't done one simple thing: installed SDK properly and followed the manual.I carn't answer this. I installed the program from the DVD. If I didn't install the SDK surely the SDK DDL files would not be in the directory??SDK is not a "dll".If I did not install the SDK. November 1, 201114 yr Author Thank you Word Not Allowed. I'll begin to do as you have suggested. I really do appreciate your time and help. My best to you, Iain WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
November 1, 201114 yr Author Where do I copy the SDK from disc 1 to? I ssume I don;t run the repair option of disc 1. IainIgnore my last, I found the .exe within the sdk folder :) Edited November 1, 201114 yr by Iain Williams WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
November 1, 201114 yr Author HI - OK I've run the SDK .exe file and selected the folder that FSX is installed in (C: drive/FS 10). I then downloaded and installed the service pack.I then found the AI traffic .exe and executed the file. (it was in the SDK folder as per the manual step 5 page 55), not microsoft gamesA black box quickly came up on screen then disappeared.I have the console+1 set, however, no message come up indicating anything. The manuals says to copy the SDK/lib to the client. Where do I put this file on the client? Thanks, Iain Edited November 1, 201114 yr by Iain Williams WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
November 1, 201114 yr Fact is, your Simconnect is not installed properly. Did you set the appropriate ports for simconnect, xml file into folder where fsx.cfg is? Also into My Documents folder -> Flight Simulator X -> there must be a simconnect.ini. In XML the IP of the machine must be set, same on the remote computer...Read from page 52 and go step by step. If you don't do it, it will not work.Simconnect is not "press exe to install and all is done".I mean, with you, since you don't get it as you wrote, I really can't help you. I did all I could. And btw. SDK shouldn't be installed anywhere else but into default folder it offers, that being Program Files, Microsoft Games, SDK... etc.
November 1, 201114 yr Author Hi - well it seems then that Ive installed the SDK wrongly in the first place (the c drive where FS resides). The default option was the X86 folder. As this is wrong, I can only assume that all the FS files are now messed up and complete reinstall is needed. :(I want to thank you for your help. I'll reinstall everything and try again. IainPS - The manuals says to copy the SDK/lib to the client. Where do I put this file on the client? Thanks, Iain WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
November 1, 201114 yr Not, reinstall is not needed. You just uninstall the client from the uninstall control panel.I don't understand the last question. Please copy/paste from the manual.
November 1, 201114 yr Author Hi Srdan:OK I have reinstalled the SDK, configured the ports and various files - everything as per the manual :)I have run the AI Traffic tester and the black box comes up showing connection to flight simulator. The box stays open for a minute or so then closes automatically.I have also reloaded FSUPIC as the manual stated.OK, now I open ASE on my client machine and it opens to the front screen. It states in the box that connection via simconnect SP1 has been instigated.I can see the weather, change the weather and do whatever in AKE, HOWEVER, the ASE box that says start FX is greyed out (you cannot click the button). FS cannot seem to be started from the ASE front page on the client.I maybe wrong, but I thought ASE could start FS directly??Ideas?? We have gone far on this :) You have been patient with me (thanks)PS - I did a quick check and ASE does not send weather to FSX at all....
