January 28, 200422 yr I have installed a MD-80 Alaska Air aircraft. The ATC calls me as DOGULAS .....I would like for the ATC to call me as ALASKS Air ...I see how to change the "N" number for any aircraft, but can't figure out how to change the name to one I wnat to use. The FS2004 has a drop down selection for name, but only a few names are given (and I can't remember for sure but I don't think Dogulas is even listed!)Thanks, jim b
January 28, 200422 yr Your aircraft will be identified by manufacturer + tail number when a flight number has not been specified. So start by specifying a flight number.Douglas is not in the callsign list as it is not a callsign - it's an aircraft type. :)The list of callsigns you can select in the user interface is controled from airlines.cfg (notice that this is NOT - repeat NOT - the list of callsigns ATC can pronounce - stuffing something into airlines.cfg does not make ATC pronounce it).But if you actually have an Alaska repaint, you better correct the ATC_AIRLINE= line in aircraft.cfg instead - then you don't have to change callsign in the GUI, and you can leave airlines.cfg as it is.Flight Simulator 2004 comes with 196 callsigns if memory serves me well (for a change). You can add more though:http://bevelstone.xs4all.nl/FlightSimulator/EditVoicepack
January 28, 200422 yr Here is a site that goes through what is in MSFS by default. http://www.geocities.com/eric_2203/index.htmlThe ailine callsigns listed can be entered into the ailine.cfg file manually, or I think there is an airline.cfg file here in the AVSIM libraries that can be downloaded.Yes this site is labeled for FS2002 but FS9 in this area is pretty much the same, One notable difference is Southwest is now a defaut airline.Another thing to do is there is a freeware program here at AVSIM as well called Editvoicepack(search all one word). This little program will add 800+ callsigns as well as fix some errors with the default callsigns, aircraft manufactures, models, and airports. Another thing with this program if you run it will online it will download and update the callsigns list and such. You can also make up your own callsigns, or say your your local airport is KLHQ and ATC refers to it as kilo-lima-hotel-quebec. You can change that with in editvoice pack to say Fairfield. Neat little program. :-outta http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/User_files/3e72a43942b48d2b.jpg There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".- unknown "My daddy gives me up, to fight for you"- a US Military Members Child
