Real World Weather not showing

Featured Replies

Last night while flying into KSDF I pulled in the Wx from Serverinfo (flying using VATSIM weather). Weather indicated 3/4 NM of visability and snow. When I was on approach I was able to see the runway from 8 NM and their was no snow at all. I then tried to use Active Sky...same indicated weather and same result on the screen.Any ideas why this is happening....I am using FS9. I have the clouds set up per the optimization guides on this forum.Mark.

Mark,Can you see snow/low vis. at other airports?JimActiveSky Support

I've seen similar just this past week....I wonder if the weather database used is updated frequently?? Here in the UK we've had quite a lot of snow, yet when I select to fly from a local airbase, which is covered in snow, in the sim it isn't!! The clouds and low Vis. are about right, and if it's raining it's usualy correct, but this week, in the sim, the snow has been as rare as it usualy is in this part of England, and not bothered to show! I had to go and use one of the preset themes to get the right 'look'!!Oh well....it's raining heavily here now, and I'm sure that'll be correct in the sim ;)
