February 1, 200422 yr Hello guys,From some weeks now, I have a strange behaviour inside FS9.For example: I'm inside the aircraft, and call the FS9 menu. Lets say I dropdown the file menu; If I pass with the arrow key to the right menu, the first that was open remain open!! But the menu I'm on is open too!!!!Another example: if I open the kneedboard, and go to flightplan and try to scroll it down, the vertical scroll bar works, but the text inside the window doesn't!! I saw scroll action just a 5 pixels line on the top and on the bottom... if I change to lets say ATC messages and go back to flight plan, I get the correct view, regarding the position of the scroll bar!!Tonight, I was adding sceneries, and if I go directly to the library, without passing through the "create a flight" screen, everything works fine, unless I get the windows dialog box absolutly scrambled, inside the folders/files window. This and other small things, like clicking on the right button on the mouse where I shouldn't do it, and so it should open a popup menu, and it does, but first for a fraction of a second, I see the desktop of my windows, other times I see the DC-3 of the FS9 opening screen!!I suspect of something to do with a dll on modules, but all I have there is the same usual thing. And everything was doing fine until some weeks ago.....Any clue?? Thanks in advance.Miguel
February 2, 200422 yr Miguel: I have the same behavior with menus but not the other items you mentioned. It just seems like a natural thing with the ati drivers. What kind of video card do you have and do you have the latest drivers installed? You also may want to try and ensure your Windows desktop resolution matches your FS screen resolution before you go in to flightsim. Since ATI's 3.8 release, I haven't really had anything video-related that has impacted my enjoyment of FS9. HTH, but it probably didn't! I use an ATI 9800XT and run in full-screen, non-windowed mode. There is a pause when I right-click but it has never displayed my desktop.
February 2, 200422 yr Hi SJ,I'm using Nvidia Geforce4 Ti4600 with the detonator 52.xx drivers. And as I was reading this I remember that recently I updated the video drivers....Maybe is one of those cases that the last one isn't the best one....I'll check it out...Thanks,Miguel
February 2, 200422 yr I think it's most likely the driversI had exactly the same issues since I moved to the 5x.xx series on my Ti 4200.Currently I'm using 53.03QX and although the things you mentioned are annoying at times, for the performance boost I have with these drivers its a small price to pay IMO.Anyway, one gets used to it after a while.//Mike
February 2, 200422 yr Hi guys,It was in fact drivers problem. I uninstalled the 52.16 version and installed the 43 version, and now it's ok!!!!Mike, tell me: did you notice so much of improvement to verios 53?Thanks any way guys.Miguel
February 3, 200422 yr Miguel I have a GeForce3 Ti200 with Detonator 52.16 drivers and I get the same menu effect you described.When I get time I will download the ver 53 drivers..l8r Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
February 3, 200422 yr Miguel,As I said, I keep these drivers 'cause they did give me a significant improvement in frame rate. I believe they are a bit inferior to the other drivers in terms of visual quality, which may explain the improved performance but it's a compromise I'm willig to make.Like everything, this may be a system specific thing so the fact it works for me does not necessarily mean it would work for you but these drivers got a fine score @ guru3d.Bottom line, I think it's worth a shot.best rgrds//Mike
