Captain Sim 727 alternate .air file?

Featured Replies

Anyone got an alternate .air file for Captain Sim's 727? I don't like the big lift you get from the flaps and such. So does anyone have one that they would be willing to share with me? Public or otherwise?

Scott,What problems are you having? Myself, I didn't like how the 200 had a constant 'nose down' attitude on approach and modified the .cfg file. That, at least let the aircraft have the proper nose up attitude on approach. If that is your problem, let me know and I'll send you a copy of the .cfg file. If you like it, use it, if not, pitch it.BestClay

>That, at least let the aircraft have the proper nose up>attitude on approach.[snip]>ClayDoes the 727 have a nose up attitude on approach? It has been so long since I have had a ride in one I can't recall. I was in an MD-80 relatively recently and it seemed like we were going to lawn dart at the fence the nose was down so much on approach. With all the weight in the back and the authority the elevated T-tail gives the plane, I would think they would keep the nose down through most of the approach as opposed to having to try to force it down at some point. But hey, I wouldn't know either way.Scott M.

Hey, just saw your reply, I almost gave up on this post. My problems are the excessive pitch changes with the trim. I've got hours in the FAA's 727 and it flys much more smoothly than this. Also the huge lift bubble you hit when you drop some flaps is way out of whack. If you've got anything that will ease these problems, or one of them, I would be very appreciative to get a copy.Thank you.

Scott,You have to understand that FS has built in limitations and because of that, hardly any autopilot system works close to correctly. Capt Sim, I guess had a hard time around that, and I'm not sure of the fix. It seems if you make the aircraft perform properly in other modes, the autopilot reaching the glideslope has great trim pitch changes. To be honest about it, I very rarely use the AP other than in cruise, liking to hand fly the beast. And that is usually what we did in real life. You also have to understand that most of my hours in the '27' were into third world countries where ILS and a glidescope was nonexistant.Saying that, when I do use it, I would like it to have the proper nose up attitude that I remember. If you would like a copy of the config file, just e mail me, and I'll send it.Best,Clayton T. [email protected]

Clayton,If according to your experience on the real thing the ammendments you made bring the FDE closer to reality I'd LOVE to have [email protected]//Mike

Hi ClaytonMe to [email protected]

I've emailed you my request for this file. Thank you very very much. I'm sure I'll enjoy the improvements!!!!Sincerely,

Mike and Scott,I've sent you two files, the first was an old file . . . so you have another coming your way which is the new one.final approach speeds 140-150 kts, average 3100 pounds of fuel usage at that with 30 degrees of flaps. aircraft should be a max landing weight or lower.robert, your file is on its way.Let me know how you like it....with right approach speed, nose is up 3 degrees.Clay

Thanks Mate!!! Won't have a chance to test it out for a while, got to see the in-laws this weekend. But I give you my word I'll let you know as soon as I do. Thanks for the effort!
