November 20, 201114 yr Hi guys, I have a question about the differences between fsx addons. What are the differences between Ultimate Terrain X, Ground Environment X, and FS Global 2010? I have no idea whether the products go together or are just different levels of the same service. While browsing the Flight 1 website I also found that there was an FS Global Ultimate for the Americas or Europe/Africa, are these any different from the regular FS Global? If so, which should I buy? Please comment, even If you don't know what one of the listings is, just notify me of what you believe! Ben B. I5 at 2.9 ghz, 8gb of RAM, and GTX 560 Overclocked 1gb
November 20, 201114 yr FS Global 2010 is a DEM - Digital Elevation Map that tells the FSX Scenery Engine the shape of the terrain. Ultimate Terrain X is Land Class that tells the FSX Scenery Engine where to place coastlines, rivers and different types of terrain (urban, forest, destert, etc.) Ground Environment X is a set of Ground Textures tiles (images) that the FSX Scenery Engine pastes over the terrain at the altitudes according to the DEM and according to the Land Class (e.g. if the ground type is "forest", then the Scenery Engine will select forest tiles to to render as the visible ground.) You need all three to render synthetic ground realistically. Alternatively, you can use photo-real scenery instead of Land Class and Ground Textures.Cheers,- jahman.

November 20, 201114 yr What about FS Global Ultimate? The FS Global Ultimate range is an enhanced version of FS Global. It contains even more elevation data, making cliffs and ridges quite sharp as the should be. But be aware; de normal FS Global (2010) covers the entire world. The Ultimate versions cover only a region, although it's a big region.Right now, in the Ultimate versions, there's "The Americas" (North and South) and Europe & Africa. Regards, Frank van der Werff

November 20, 201114 yr Would you consider it better than FS Global?Yes. Definitely.I have both Ultimate volumes myself. They are worth the money.... and the time it takes to install (will take about 4 hours for both volumes).But... it only gives you a noticeable difference if you fly in mountainous area.
