February 4, 200422 yr hello there, thank you again for opening the dream flights forum.alas, there is a potential problem with the forum. the flight files may exceed the upload limit, however slightly. would there be a way to relax the size restriction? the forum is not likely to get very very busy... could we give it a try?thanks for the great work you're doing! :)vilk
February 5, 200422 yr You really didn't need to post this in two forums and PM me as well. Great enthusiasm, but my mind can only wrap itself around one message at a time. :-)To answer your questions here:1.) The forum/library server is about to burst now. We do not want to up the limit of the size of the uploads until we add a new server, and we may not even at that time.2.) Storage on AVSIM via the forums is not a good idea, as files in the forums storage area are removed after 12 days. Uploads were only intended for images here.3.) Zip file distribution via the forum is not a good idea. A malicious user could wreck havoc with unsuspecting readers.4.) Weather files really should be hosted and linked to on the reader's web site, just like signature images, etc.Hoped that answers your questions... :)
February 5, 200422 yr :)all valid concerns, i understand. i'm not quite sure how the flight exchange could go on without exchanging flights, but i guess only time will show...again, tom, thanks a lot. your boundless patience for my enthusiasm is truly appreciated.:)vilk
February 5, 200422 yr Hi,Just a suggestion, but couldn't the weather files be uploaded to a new category in the FS2004 file library? Then all that would be necessary would be to provide a brief description on the forum of the flight and provide a link to the relevant file set. Not all of us have web pages/sites :( Mike
February 5, 200422 yr Just post your flightplan as text inside the message (either a textual description of the route or a collection of waypoints). As many people will fly with realworld weather just giving time of day for most stunning visuals should be enough.
