AS2012

Good Day,I currently have ASE for FSX and for the most part find it's the best program out there for weather. I do plan on buying AS2012 and just have a quick question or two for you please:1) Has the METAR Editing in the WX Config (now WX Edit in 2012) parsing problem been fixed in AS2012? I have had many problems with the ASE version to the point where I can't use it, but have to use the graphical panel above that if I want to install weather manually.2) I still have problems occasionally with rain being generated in clear conditions (the snow seems to come when it's supposed to now, so that problem was fixed in the last update). I'm guessing but I suspect this is a result of interpolated weather from distant stations. Has that been addressed?3) I'm not sure it's possible to address this "issue" (can't really call it a fault because I suspect the program is just doing what it's being told to do), but often if flying the interior of British Columbia (Canada) such as in the Bob Quinn area (Tongass scenery area), I will be getting "Advanced Interpolation" weather as one would expect. The problem is I often get a heavy emphasis on Wrangell's wx as it is the closest station. However it's under a maritime climate area where rain is as prevalent as snow in the winter, whereas Bob Quinn is in a continental climatic zone and typically receives very cold and often clear (the latter can be far more variable of course) conditions in winter. As a result of this advanced interpolated weather, I often get rain and low clouds at BQ in January where the actual conditions are -30C and "severe clear". Is there a way to (manually or otherwise) influence how the interpolated weather stations are chosen so that I can filter out the coastal stations? Again, I realize that might be asking far more than is possible, and if so please say so (I won't be upset - this isn't a $1500 sim program wink.png ), but if there is a way, or there is a filter already built into AS2012, could you describe that process (briefly) for me?Thanks very much for all your work. Much appreciated!

Hi Glenn,Parsing issues with ASE have been solved. There is a beta update available from our support center support.hifitechinc.com which includes this fix.Precipitation along side (instead of under) clouds is not something we have control over. The reason is that FSX automatically determines a cloud height (thickness) and precipitation ceiling, independent of the visual model, without our ability to set this. It will rain anywhere under the ceiling of the cloud definition, even if you are not visually within the cloud. This issue is most noticeable with thunderstorms, as the very high towering cloud layer (which can go to 20Kft for example) creates a top to bottom "zone" of precipitation within a wx area (16kmX16km) while the thunderstorm cloud model only inhabits part of this. Regarding interpolation, yes this has been improved in AS2012... but better news for you right now, we've also improved sparse-area interpolation in ASE beta that I referred to above. I think it may give you the results you are seeking.
