February 9, 200422 yr Hi,Does anybody here know what the current state of play is regarding an FS2004 compatibility patch for the PSS Avro Vulcan XH558?This fine a/c does work in FS2004 but was originally modelled for use in FS2002.A month or so back I asked a question in the PSS Support Forum regarding the absence of the engine howl which is heard as the engines were wound up to full power in FS2k2. The first response (not from the PSS Support Staff) stated that this and other issues would be addressed in an FS9 update. The second (again not from the PSS Staff) stated that "The 'howl' is controlled by FSUIPC. To hear it, make sure you have the latest patch from PSS installed." As far as I am aware, no such patch yet exists. Furthermore, no further responses to the thread have appeared which, in itself, is surprising.Clearly, there is some confusion so, in my innocence, I posted again in the hope that someone from PSS Support would respond. Sadly, this has not occurred. What was even more frustrating was the non-appearance of my post, yet the thread counter increased by one as if my post was indeed there. Now, I know my post has been seen by the PSS Moderator, as they appear to vet everything before it is allowed to appear, so what is going on? Also, I do have to say that this is not the first time a non-contentious post from me has either not appeared or received no answer.I have always been an enthusiastic, if generally silent, supporter of PSS but, if my recent experience is in any way typical, this attitude must give some cause for real concern.I'm as prepared as the next person to be patient. All I am asking is for a little clarification as to the current state of play regarding whether or not we can expect an FS9 patch.Any comments?Mike
February 9, 200422 yr Hi Mike,There was a patch released in Nov. for the PSS Vulcan along with the A320 and Dash 8. The patch was only available for a few days before being pulled due to problems.I'm still flying my patched Vulcan and it sounds fine.As for anyone other than PSS knowing what they're up to, I wouldn't expect much. They say the patch is in development so that's all we can go by. If PSS won't answer your question on their forum, they won't answer it here.Cheers,JohnBoeing 727/737 Mechanichttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg
