Livery manager vanished after SP1b update

Featured Replies

I have a recently rebuilt machine (specs below) and have a small SSD which is only for FSX and add-ons. When I re-installed the NGX8/9, everything was fine. When the 7/8 came out, bought it & installed it, and except for some strange jumping of liveries discussed in other threads, still everything worked normally. CTDs, freezes, all that continued normally.A few days ago I installed the SP1b update for both 8/9 and 6/7. So then it was time to re-install all the liveries. I click start>All Programs>PMDG>Livery Manager and get a popup box saying Win7 could not find the executable. In E:\FSX\PMDG\PMDG737NGX there's a folder called "Livery Manager", but it's empty. I've tried re-installing the updates twice, no Livery Manager executable, although it does update the timestamp on the directory.Using Windows Search, Google Desktop, and the Gnu "find" utility, there is no trace of the Livery Manager. Deleted-file recovery tools (Recuvia and TestDisk, plus the usual utilities) no joy either. Is there a way to extract the Livery Manager from the SP1b executable? Is there some other way to get the corrected (updated) Livery Manager executable? Thanks for any help, dan "lensman" davisoni7-2500K, Asus P8X58-Pro, 8 GB Crucial RAM, 850W XFX PSU, Radeon 6950 2GB, Antec 900 case, 3x 1 TB WD Caviar hard disks (one boot, two for data); Win 7 64bit Home Premium, FSX+AccelerationSoftware: FSUIPC, FSDreamTeam JFK, PMDG 747-400X/F/LCF/8i/8F;737NGX6/7/8/9; MD11/F; JS41 (only engine fires so far); LDS767; Dodosim 206 helicopter

Any anti virus that might be catching it? That's been the usual culprit with this problem..Mine flagged both the livery manager and the performance manager. I just had theAV restore them, and all was well in the world. :|

You are right. Norton Internet Security caught it. I'm confused because (1) I turned the AV off when I did the installs and re-installs as administrator, (2) I turn AV off when using FSX, (3) the date/time of quarantine doesn't correspond to when the installs and re-installs were done. (4) it didn't touch the performance manager, (5) E:FSX was on the "exclude" list as suggested in the NGX introduction. Oh well. Thanks very much!dan davison
