February 13, 200422 yr Hello, Simmers,Using the Autopilot in FS 2002 the plane follows the course as set in NAV 1 not on track but swinging all the way left and right of the given course. What's the reason for this annoying effect and who knows, how to eleminate that ?Always happy landings,
February 13, 200422 yr Wolfgang,I don't know how to eliminate the problem. I've finally learned to ignore this feature of FS2002. Maybe someone else will respond and help both of us.It seems to me as if the AP doesn't sense an error until it "sees" the radials on either side of the set course. For example, if you set 340 in NAV1 the AP will drift left until it is lined up with 341, then turn right to correct the path. When it drifts over to the 339 radial, it turns left to correct, and so on....... My guess is that a real world AP would home in on the strongest part of the signal from the 340 radial, resulting in very small corrections. I was glad to see your question and hope others will add to this thread with some real words of wisdom.Regards,JerryH
February 18, 200422 yr Hi, Jerry, sorry for my delayed reaction to Your prompt response due to travel in the meantime.I accept a small deviation from the given course due to raising scattering of the beam depending on the distance from the respective VOR. But neither FS 98 nor FS 2004 have (had) this problem to that range as in FS 2002. FS 98 respectively FS 2004 swing max. +- 3
