February 15, 200422 yr When I purchased FS2004 I decided it was time to upgrade the Video Card so I went and bought aHightech Radeon 9800Pro. Reformatted Hard disk, installed Win XP Pro,FS2002 & Fs2004.FS2002 worked very well. FS2004 kept flickering and giving me problems when switching betweenfull screen & window mode, also refusing to resizeFSNav window properly, and strange graphics effectsin spot view like rotating the wings out of place and punching holes in aircraft surface showing methe stowed landing gear, etc.I downloaded different driver versions includingthe latest from both Hightech and ATI sites, triedalmost every single suggestion everybody has writtenon this forum, but all to no avail. Thinking this problem was perhaps Card related I wentback to the shop and asked to exchange the card fora Winfast A350 XT TDH FX5900XT.Got rid of of all the ATI drivers using DriverCleanchanged the display driver to VGA and then installed the Nvidia drivers that came with the Nvidia card.FS2002 no problem. FS2004 flickering just as bad aswith the ATI Card. Switching from full screen towindow mode better than with ATI but still some probs,FSNav screen still not resizing properly, resizes toonly half its full size then takes a long time to gofull screen. Graphic corruption as reported with ATIcard the same. Again tried various drivers both from Leadtek and Nvidia including the 53.03 and still no change.Tried again nearly all the suggestions on this forum,no change. Also upgraded the Mobo BIOS... no change. Many members of this newsgroups have both cards butdo not report any problems so this leads me to believethat FS2004 does have problems with some hardware configs. Not being a hardware expert, I'm not sure what causes this,a certain kind of chipset or processor perhaps?(Via & Athlon XP 2400+ mine).Have to say both cards work very well with everyhtingelse. Considereing the price difference, couldn't reallytell the difeerence between them when playing Price of Persia, for example.I offer this to the newsgroup hoping it can clarifyat least some points, but sadly not resolve them.Needlessto say I am consigning FS2004 to the "virtual"bin until a solution is found (if ever) to this problemor until I upgrade or buy a new PC.RegardsJoaquin
February 15, 200422 yr Author Joaquin,You don't say if you have AA turned on either in FS or in the card.I get problems with FSNav slow to draw if I enable any amount of AA via my GF4 Ti4800, I have resigned myself to having jaggies until I can wade through all the posts devoted to this issue. To resolve the flickering try disabling 'Render to texture' in FS.Pete Dowson has done some extensive testing re FS hanging when switching between windowed and full screen and has concluded that DX9 is to blame and it affects not just FS.If you have FSUIPC have a good read of the 'User Doc', penultimate page.Best of luck. All these 'little' problems will be solved perhaps in the patch (FS10), but just to keep us going I'm sure it will introduce more undocumented features :-)

Have now read itand it explains a lot.FSNav now refreshes just as quick as on FS2002 and windowswitching much better. The setting I now have are:Card: AA=x4 AF=x2Sim: Render to Texture Off Transform& Lighting On MIP Mapping quality x4 Hardware rendered lights 6Vulcan once again you have saved my day.Bit disappointed by the bugs.RegardsOnce again Vulcan you've saved my day.
