December 31, 201114 yr I was trying the ATC feature, no success so far:dialed CLNC then GND, waiting for clearance from KSEA to KBFI, as per the xplane manual. standing at the runway this is what I get in the ATC menu (XPX 10.03 beta 7, default C172):"A gate hold is in effect for a runway change. please standby."after standing by for 10 minutes, frustated and gave up.Next I tried a similar procedure at KCMI and filed for a short hop to KTIP in the Carenado F33: after filing FLT plan with CLNC, I receive my clearance, read back OK. then tuned GND, hit ENTER to await taxi instructions but all I get is an empty ATC window. Is this as real as it gets, blade elements, plausible or what am I doing wrong?
December 31, 201114 yr Looks like you changed aircraft, your showing a 172, but saying your flying a F33?If you changed aircraft you might have cancelled your original flight. Is this as real as it gets, blade elements, plausible or what am I doing wrong?Statements like this might not get you too much help! December 31, 201114 yr Author h2egc thanksyes as mentioned I did change aircraft but only later on to see if this is related to the radio panel configuration. and I did reload and re-file the flight plan. to me the ATC system seems rudimentary at best."Statements like this..." are the result of XPX frustation, and I am not alone here.
January 1, 201214 yr Author I don't think it had to do with changing the aircraft but it turns out it was my mistake: I had tuned all frequencies on the lower KING radio, the one below the GNS430 and since I had never used that GNS430 I had mistaken that KING radio for COM1, no wonder they did not respond to COM2. do all communications with ATC have to go through COM1? or is there a way to make either one the active one like in reality? maybe ATC is not that "rudimentary" after all.
January 1, 201214 yr The comm selection panel has switches. In a real aircraft, if you turn off comm1 and turn on comm2, it should redirect transmissions from c1 to c2. You'll see in the C172 the green lights indicate live listening/transmitting Aaron
January 1, 201214 yr Author thanks.in a real aircraft (C172 R) you can have COM1 and COM2 active at the same time, one to transmit and one to listen to. can you also transmit on COM2 in XPX?those buttons in the Carenado audio panel are too similar (see red outline, which one is the active/inactive button ?) to distinguish active/inactive status lights in the audio panel.the Carenado configuration was confusing me as none of the radios are labeled COM1/COM2. but I understand that normally the top unit is assigned COM1
