February 16, 200422 yr hi folks, didn't have any fs9 crashes until now - during AS2004 new beta testing i experienced the following (and pls test this, if possible):- installed (later uninstalled) new Nice airport (LFMN)- let FS9 create a high altitude standard route from LFMN to LFPO- delete the first Navpoint NIZ (VOR)- fly the route (with our without weather, or without or without AI)at the first waypoint (something like verdes 75nm north of LFMN...don't remember the name now), i get constand crashes and fs9 shuts down..illegal blabla fs9.exe.... x( disabled all weather engines, all AI and any other 3rd party scenery which i installed lately - no landclass files installed either.very strange, that fs9 crashes around this waypoint (so far only waypoint). again, so far i encountered no other crashes.any hints, tips and tests greatly appreciated!thanksharald
February 16, 200422 yr Set the Sim to summer and try it.If it dosent crash, then you are suffering from the Seasonal Crash to Desktop. There is a community created workaround for this, but youll have to search the forum.BUT FIRST TRY SETTING THE SIM TO SUMMER BEFORE APPLYING ANY PATCHES/WORKAROUNDS.Jason
February 16, 200422 yr Author hi Jason!thanks for quick reply!! will try your recommendation and see if this helps - another folk suggested to remove afcads around 100nm - there might be some "faulty" afcads which creates those crashes... x( again, thanks!cheers, harald
February 16, 200422 yr If thats the case, try and run those AFCAD's through the build-in "Fault finder" in AFCAD2. It will let you know if there are any annomalities.I think you experienced the same as I have several times though, wich is the seasonal crash to desktop (CTD). Happend alot to me as well north of Nice :(
February 16, 200422 yr Author Hi Jason!it was a clear seasonal crash to desktop - did the same flight in summer without any crashes! changed as per sugesstion the terrain texture size to medium and it worked also in winter - then applied trhe relevant terrain.cfg changes (replace all instances of "MaskClassMap=1" and "MaskClassMap=3" with "MaskClassMap=0"), set terrain size back to high and everything worked fine!thanks again for helping! cheers, harald
