Nvidia drivers

Featured Replies

Hi people,I just purchased an Nvidia GeForceFX 5200 128 MB to go with FS and I was wondering what the best drivers were for that card and where i could get them? I downloaded the latest ones and i wreaked havoc in FS2002 but that was the only one available on the Nvidia site.cya!Matti

Personally I would recommend this place here, its awesome for updates on leaked driver betas :)http://www.guru3d.com/Alot of info in their forum as well.

Rather than start a new thread, I'll just ask here: guru3d has a 56.55 forceware release that is WHQL certified. Their forums have very mixed results - bad for FX owners, great for 42-4600 owners. I generally aviod beta releases, but I'm curious about this one: any FSers tried them out yet? Thanks for any info!Best,sg

I am running them currently - forgot to change that in my sig - they seem pretty good for GF4 users like me, as also stated on their forums.I can say for my part that im very satisfied with them, seems to give me better quality then the previous 5*.** series. Also the new functions in it is worth having a look at, such as presets settings for different games.

Thanks a lot guys!A friend had recommended that site to me but he had made a mistake and said it was 3dguru.com so of course I didn't find anything. Thanks again, now I'm going to have fun choosing drivers :-)Matti

I have a GeForce4 Ti4600, and in my experience, you have to experiment with drivers until you find the one that bonds perfectly with your particular hardware setup. On www.nvidia.com you can find the latest driver, but on that same page, you can find a link to previously released drivers all the way back to the 20s. (We're now in the 50s). I'm using the 44.03s with FS9.....they are the ones that gives me the BEST performance in terms of frame rates, and also the best visual performance meaning that I get sharp textures (hardly any blurries). None of the others work as well....even the latest ones. They all give me a drop in frame rates and an increase in blurries. When I was using FS2002, the 30.82s were the drivers that gave me the best frame rates and lowest blurries. Also, I couldn't run FS2002 with DirectX9. I had to leave DirectX8.1 in there. But of course that's my system. And I only decided on the 44.03s after A LOT of testing and experimentation. So asking "which is the best driver" is not going to help you at all because the best for one person will not necessarily be the best for you.You should also do a google search for "driver Cleaner". Its a little utility that you can use to wipe all traces of a driver from your computer when you un-install a driver. Remember that FS is different than other games in that it is very demanding. In all my other games, I get perfect performance no matter which driver I have installed. But not with FS. As a result, I build my system around FS's needs and the other games work ok.

It is also necessary, or at least good advice, to remove references to the old drivers manually from the fs9.cfg file. Details are posted here in the forum.Allcott
