WideFS setup help

Featured Replies

Im trying to setup 2 windows 7 PC's to run fsx on 1 and fscommander on the second. Im not great with computers and need some help with it. I followed both manuals as well as I could but fscommanders is on a operating system other than W7 so the things to select arent there. I have both PC's on the same wireless network running fine. When I setup a homegroup I can see my fsx folder on my client pc but its under network and wideserver doesnt connect. Firewall exceptions made, fsx pc when running sais waiting for clients up top but when I start wideserver it just sais waiting to connect. When I run fscommanders database updater the fsx directory is not choosable whatsoever because the only way I can see my fsx folder is if I go to homegroup and then its a shared library and I dont think thats the proper way to connect them. Please anyone who can help Id be very greatfull this is getting very frustrating.

Hi Joshleeman, might be able to offer some advice, as I run a network setup for FSX and Five other P.C.'s (homebuilt 737-800). I am not familiar with fscommanders, but that should not be your problem. Also I run hardwired through a Hub for network. Firstly, do you have WideClient installed on the P.C. running fscommanders? Once you give me an answer on that, I can try and assist.

I got it all running fine now, my problem was I was mistaking a WORKGROUP for the homegroup. Once I got the workgroup setup I was able to map a network drive which was the fscommander problem because it has to be mapped in order to pick it to run fscommanders initialization of the FSX scenery database. But thanks anyway for your response because this was driving me nuts for a few days trying to figure it all out. Peace
