  1. First off go to the Apollo site for fsinn FAQ and get the info to create the file to put into the high detailed planes folders to make fsinn ignore them. Then there's a few apps that supposedly make the correct liveries get recognized but even with the best PC s it's still hit or miss. I did it a while ago and fsinn showed everything proper but my PC froze on every approach so to me it wasn't worth it.
  2. I got it all running fine now, my problem was I was mistaking a WORKGROUP for the homegroup. Once I got the workgroup setup I was able to map a network drive which was the fscommander problem because it has to be mapped in order to pick it to run fscommanders initialization of the FSX scenery database. But thanks anyway for your response because this was driving me nuts for a few days trying to figure it all out. Peace
  3. Thanks I figured there was a way
  4. I got it now so thanks for the help, the map network drive got me going in the right direction
  5. its titled setting up lan for wideFS, I got to it from google so it could be sim specific but the toker guy was helping with widefs so i was clarifying cus this is a pain in my &@($*
  6. Hey I got the files visible on both pc's now and can choose the mounted Z for the first step, but the second scenery part is greted out and nothings pickable. This is a problem because the fscommander app that you put in the fsx root folder isnt finding what it needs? I get the first screen telling me what it does and when I hit ok it sais copying couldnt be completed?? Whats the deal? If fscommander is already installed and database mgr working on my host fsx pc cant I somehow use that database copy? Or could it being on the fsx PC be whats causing the problem with the database mgr? This is so frustrating they charge all this money for this software and when it wont work there like oh well google it.
  7. The 1 fs9 mention I made is asking what the FSX equivelant of the posters #2 item that needs to be shared because he is using fs9 in the guide and im using fsx but I got that part its the fsx.cfg. Now I have fsx installed in the default path, so I need to share or map the entire C drive of the fsx machine? Both UAC are off and I disabled both firewalls with same result. Can you explain what you mean by your #3 step because thats where Im not understanding the language " network drive mapping on client computer, the server FSX folder as a drive". In windows 7 does that mean make the C drive a library, because the only things it seems I can share besides the checkable boxes Picture, documents, printers etc is stuff in advanced sharing and it turns it into a library visible on second computer. If anyone who has done this on win7 can help me out Id be very greatfull!! ThanksEDIT - Ok after some googling I think u are saying once I can see the fsx folder on the client PC I should go into windows explorer and hit "map network drive" and that should make it a accesible drive from the client machines fscdatabase manager? And it will be the letter Z drive then correct? If I dont change anything? Does it matter or is there a benefit in being on a network as a homegroup or workgroup? Thanks
  8. Im trying to setup 2 windows 7 PC's to run fsx on 1 and fscommander on the second. Im not great with computers and need some help with it. I followed both manuals as well as I could but fscommanders is on a operating system other than W7 so the things to select arent there. I have both PC's on the same wireless network running fine. When I setup a homegroup I can see my fsx folder on my client pc but its under network and wideserver doesnt connect. Firewall exceptions made, fsx pc when running sais waiting for clients up top but when I start wideserver it just sais waiting to connect. When I run fscommanders database updater the fsx directory is not choosable whatsoever because the only way I can see my fsx folder is if I go to homegroup and then its a shared library and I dont think thats the proper way to connect them. Please anyone who can help Id be very greatfull this is getting very frustrating.
  9. I have 2 computers with windows 7. Both on a wireless network. I can join a homegroup to share files and can see the shared files on second pc but only when I click on networks, it shows my second pc's name and I click on it and can see and open my fsx main folder with read/write selected as well. But when I click on the wideserver.exe it just sais waiting to connect and flight sim computer is running in fsx and it sais up top "waiting for clients". I put exceptions for both fsx and fscommander and wideserver in the firewalls. when I try to open fscommander it sais it needs to read the initial scenery files but the fsx file of the host pc isnt pickable in the fscommander menu. Fscommanders step by step guide is on an operating system so old Ive never seen it before and those selection names arent on windows seven so I've gotten totally lost. Please can someone either explain or link me to an easy to understand tutorial for windows 7 widefs setup. Thanks
  10. Hello, I'm trying to do this with fsx and fscommander. I have 2 questions, first is it close to the same method if both computers are on wireless router, or connected via ethernet? And whats the fsx name for the #2 FS9 file that needs to be shared? I'm guessing its the location of the fsx.cfg file but am new to computer stuff. Thanks
  11. Is there a guide for computer newbies on how to setup WideFS to run a second app like fscommander or a virtual airlines acars system? Or can u explain in pc newbie language how to do so? Thanks
  12. For the amount of money they charge for these planes how can they not take care of their customers...Oh wait, Captain Sim charges the same amount and says SEE YA!! LNAV doesnt work, A/P HDG HOLD doesnt work...Oh well sucks to be you!!
  13. do u know anywhere that people upload pmdg ngx ezdock cam files that they use for us lazy folks? ANyone?
  14. Yeah it was, I was sure all my settings and stuff were correct so I knew it had to be something odd and I guess the sp1 I downloaded got corrupt or something because when i put the usb stick into my pc later on it said "usb data needs attention blah blah" so I let it scan it and it said it was fixed so I then went and downed a fresh sp1 file and it worked proper.
  15. This happens a lot with me as well, but only when using mouse/no auto rudder. I ve gotten so damn frustrated with it but im hoping that realistic A/P off works
