Setting up FSX

Featured Replies

Just about to order a new rig and as a complete newbie to Flight Sim I'm looking for info regarding installing and setting up FSX.Here's a link to my build http://forum.avsim.net/topic/358410-new-rig-1000-ordering-asap-please-check/I found this http://www.simforums.com/Forums/topic29041.html and it seems quite detailed...is this information good enough or can anyone recommend any other tutorials on the subject?Cheers, Mike.

NIck N's guide is good.Just be patient and do things in steps. Don't try to install everything at once, but one at a time, then test and make sure everything is working OK!Step 1: Make sure Windows and all hardware drivers are installed and updated to the latest versions. Run benchmark programs to chek that your system is stable.Step 2: Install FSX and finetune settings. Fly and test for a while.Step 3: Install peripherals like joysticks, panels, pedals, yokes etc. Make assignments of axes and keys. Watch out for conflicts.Step 4: Install FSUIPCStep 5: Install other addons, one at a time so you can thouroughly test them. If you run into trouble you can start looking for tweaks or consider deleting them. Usually it is best to start with addons that make a global impact (mesh, textures, roads, weather etc.) then move on to more local scenery/airports and aircraft last.
