Voice panel compared to button panel
Hey guys pretty new to it all and was watching some youtube videos and noticed the two different panels...Is it possible to have the button panel which shows left and right displays with the Voice version? I think it's good to see what is basically a checklist unless I'm mistaken? What was the idea of doing away with the right side for the Voice version? Cheers

New rig (£1000) ordering ASAP, please check.
Ok so last week I was planning to load FSX onto a friends old gaming rig (I'm all Mac), buy PMDG's 737NGX and have a play. It quickly became apparent that this wasn't going to work out so I thought to hell with it I'll go all out and get a new rig!I am planning on using this machine exclusively for FSX, to which I am very new...as in never used it! From my research I have concluded that I want to load Windows 7 x64 Professional (is this compatible with FS2Crew voice?), FSX (does it matter which edition) buy PMDG's 737NGX and iFly's also because I am planning on practicing multi crew SOP's using FS2crew (no one knows when the 737NGX SDK will be avail and FS2crew ready)I'll need to research headsets and controllers later but I want to check this rig will be ok for my requirements, please note that I won't be using this machine for anything else...not even the internet (except for updates I guess?) I won't be playing online or having any other addons such as scenery etc. (is the hard disk size ok?)I have never built my own machine before (friends helping out) so can you please check that all parts are suitable, compatible and everything I need is there. So here it is:Gigabyte GTX 570 OC Windforce3X 1280MB GDDR5 DVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Cardhttp://www.ebuyer.co...medium=productsAsus P8Z68-V PRO Z68 Socket 1155 8 Channel HD Audio ATX Motherboard (will the sound be ok for fs2crew voice?)http://www.ebuyer.co...ard-p8z68-v-proIntel Core i5 2500K 3.3GHz Socket 1155 6MB Cache Retail Boxed Processorhttp://www.ebuyer.co...-bx80623i52500kCorsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 2000MHz XMS3 Memory Kit CL9 1.65Vhttp://www.ebuyer.co...mx8gx3m2a2000c9Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound Thermal paste 3.5gramhttp://www.ebuyer.co...as5-3-5#reviewsNoctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator and Fan CPU Coolerhttp://www.novatech....ers/nh-d14.htmlCrucial 128GB 2.5" M4 SSD SATA-III 6Gb/s - Read 415MB/s Write 175MB/shttp://www.ebuyer.co...b-s-ct128m4ssd2Kingston 2.5" to 3.5" Hard Drive Bracket and Screwshttp://www.ebuyer.co...crews-sna-br-35Antec 300 Three Hundred Casehttp://www.ebuyer.co...0761345-08300-3(second hand) 600w ToughPower supplyThis is the monitor I have http://www.overstock...79/product.html Do the job?Really appreciated any input...I'm looking to order this in the next 24hrs or so and build it at the weekend (I'll keep you up-dated on that! ha)Cheers all, Mike.

Spec me a machine please
flymecrazy replied to flymecrazy's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcDepends, if you use the acronym then it's "an SSD" where as if you say it in full it's "a solid state drive" :)

Spec me a machine please
flymecrazy replied to flymecrazy's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcWell I don't know much about computers but that looks pretty awesome in those pics. This is what I'm thinking of buying:-Asus P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) Motherboard-2nd Generation Intel® Core i7 2700K 3.50GHz Socket LGA1155 - OEM-Gigabyte GeForce GTX 570 SC 1280MB GDDR5-Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit-Noctua NH-D14 *2011* Dual Radiator CPU CoolerJust need suggestions on which HDD to get, im not sure whether to get a SSD or western digital velociraptor 300gb for the OS and SFX. What are the advantages of having two HDD's (one for OS and one for SFX). Would you get away with one?Cooling - any case recomendations, needs to be fit for purpose and not expensive. Thanks for any input, Mike.

Best 737 multi crew SOP practice?
Hi Bryan, thanks for your input. I've decided it's probably best to buy a new machine! Started a new thread here http://forum.avsim.net/topic/358273-spec-me-a-machine-please/I've purchased the iFly FS2crew bundle and audio ground school in anticipation. Is there a time limit with regards to when I have to download the files as I'm using my mac right now. Cheers, Mike

Spec me a machine please
flymecrazy replied to flymecrazy's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcOkay so if I said I had about £900 to spend on a machine (not including the monitor or any other peripherals) would that get me something that will do the job. I literally just want to use it for Flight Sim and PMDG's 737NGX? I want it to be as hassle free as possible so literally un box it, plug it in and install FSX and play. Suppose I'll also have to look into joysticks! Cheers for the help, really appreciate it!

Spec me a machine please
Hello everyone and happy new year!First of all, I am completely new to the Flight Sim world but having just finished commercial flight training I want to use it to keep current.I was planning to use an old machine built by a friend, my knowledge is somewhat limited but I can tell you it has an Intel Pentium ® D CPU 3.00Ghz , 2.5gb RAM and a GeForce 9800GTX+ 512mb and 1102mhz. It's currently running XP with SP2 but I do have a copy of windows 7 I can load onto it.Looking at iFly's 737 with FS2crew it says:System Requirements:Flight Simulator X w/Service Pack 2 (SP2)2.6 Mhz Quad-Core Processor2 GB of disk space4GB RAM512 MB Video CardWindows XP / Vista / Win7Looks like I'm low on RAM and the Dual Core processor might not cut it? In which case, can someone please do some online shopping for me and spec up a machine that will allow me to get things up and running asap really. Obviously I will be paying over the odds by not building it myself but in all honesty I have neither the skills set or time required.I had a quick look on overclockers uk and cyberpowersystem uk and I guess it could cost in the region of £1300 for a half decent machine?Any help, comments or advice greatly appreciated! Oh and apologies if this is lazy but I've already spent a week reading about all the different flight sim options and I'm still no closer to deciding what to buy...will probably end up buying both the iFly 737 with fs2crew and PMDG's 737NGx. I guess it's probably worth me mentioning that I'm not too bothered about the external visuals and what not, I just want a smooth running stable solution that will allow me to improve 737 systems knowledge and practice procedures.Cheers all,Mike

Best 737 multi crew SOP practice?
I'm very new to all this and having spent quite a few hours reading I've still not really got a definitive answer.I am looking for the best 737 simulator with multi crew experience. When I say best, I really mean something that will allow one to learn everything there is to learn about the 737 whilst also having the ability to practice in a multi crew environment, i.e SOP's. From what I understand, it seems as though I can buy a product such FS2Crew and set it up so that I can practice a specific airlines SOP's and it would be as though you are running a real airline operation? Can anyone tell me which version of Flight Sim I require FS9 or FSX, which 737 (I originally thought PMDG 737NGX until I saw the iFLY FS2crew videos on youtube) and any other relevant hardware/software, e.g. I saw the trackIR 5 and that's something I would be interested in. What I'm not really interested in is external graphics, livery add ons or even flight deck graphics...amazing as the PMDG 737NGX videos look! I just want an easy hassle free simple install that works and allows me to practice SOP's and learn about the 737 systems etc. Oh and can I switch seats and become pilot monitoring or pilot flying?Any help and advice greatly appreciated.Happy new year to all! Cheers
