September 2, 201114 yr HiAfter browsing this forum and others I'm think I'm ready to specify my new FSX pc. I've been through a few over the years and I know nothing is future-proof but this one will have to last a long time! There are a number of online UK companies offering a custom build approach with similar prices. Can anyone recommend a good reliable outfit from personal experience?CheersChris

September 2, 201114 yr Why dont you get the parts from say aria or ebuyer and build it yourself, that way you'll save yourself a small fortune and what you save on a pre built rig you can use on better parts. I was looking at a pre built one and without a word of a lie, i saved myself nigh on £800, built it in a day and theres loads of clever people here that will help with overclocking or any question you have. Go for it man Chris Howard
September 2, 201114 yr ebuyer are rip off. Scan and OCUK are the cheapest Di Agron Dell XPS 15 L502X | Intel i5-2540m @ 2.60GHz | 4GB DDR3 1333MHz (2x2GB) | nVidia GT525M | Seagate 500GB 7200RPM | 15" 1366x768 | 23" LG 1360x768 | Got a hardware question? September 2, 201114 yr I just bought from Wired2Fire - its about £300 more than building it yourself from Aria but I'm not good at Hardware and can't overclock - Also don't have the time to learn how to build it. I'm quite impressed with the prices from Wired2Fire compared to the other companies mentioned :) But i'm sure everyone has their own views

September 3, 201114 yr Author Ok. I'm a bit tempted to build it myself then. It'll make a good project to teach myself how! Do most components come with the required cabling etc?Is there a good online guide to building your own?I'll be guided by this forum as to what to buy and I think I can do any overclocking. Before I commit I'll work out the cost saving to be made by diy.CheersChris

September 6, 201114 yr Author Well I've had an interesting shop around. I identified my ideal setup then compared custom built with components only. In the end for around £1000 layout the build added just another £100. For peace of mind and a warranty I think it is worth the extra. I'll do the overclocking myself as recommended. Thanks for all the advice - I'll report back when it arrives.CheersChris

September 7, 201114 yr Author I looked at 4 or 5 sites but found the best range of components to suit me on Cyberpower UK. I checked them out and they seem to be well established with a decent reputation. We'll find out the hard way in a couple of weeks!Prices were very similar across the sites I checked. CheersChris
September 7, 201114 yr Author Well not as good as yours!Basically Asus P8Z68-V Pro, i5 2500k, GTX 570, 8mb of 1600mhz Ram, Corsair 850 psu, liquid cooling, 1tb Hd and other bits in a Coolermaster case running W 7 64bit.I'll do a proper sig if it all works out! Chris
September 7, 201114 yr Nice man! That will run fsx nice and pee allover fs2004! Mine is not the best around, it took alot of saving and time (as im sure u know!) and alot of watching others going on about fsx which drove me mental to the point where i sold my old rig, drove the missus mad and built this one. It does the job for me and hopefully will for a few years yet. Bet you cant wait for your new toy to arrive! Chris Howard
