Ok so last week I was planning to load FSX onto a friends old gaming rig (I'm all Mac), buy PMDG's 737NGX and have a play. It quickly became apparent that this wasn't going to work out so I thought to hell with it I'll go all out and get a new rig!I am planning on using this machine exclusively for FSX, to which I am very new...as in never used it! From my research I have concluded that I want to load Windows 7 x64 Professional (is this compatible with FS2Crew voice?), FSX (does it matter which edition) buy PMDG's 737NGX and iFly's also because I am planning on practicing multi crew SOP's using FS2crew (no one knows when the 737NGX SDK will be avail and FS2crew ready)I'll need to research headsets and controllers later but I want to check this rig will be ok for my requirements, please note that I won't be using this machine for anything else...not even the internet (except for updates I guess?) I won't be playing online or having any other addons such as scenery etc. (is the hard disk size ok?)I have never built my own machine before (friends helping out) so can you please check that all parts are suitable, compatible and everything I need is there. So here it is:Gigabyte GTX 570 OC Windforce3X 1280MB GDDR5 DVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Cardhttp://www.ebuyer.co...medium=productsAsus P8Z68-V PRO Z68 Socket 1155 8 Channel HD Audio ATX Motherboard (will the sound be ok for fs2crew voice?)http://www.ebuyer.co...ard-p8z68-v-proIntel Core i5 2500K 3.3GHz Socket 1155 6MB Cache Retail Boxed Processorhttp://www.ebuyer.co...-bx80623i52500kCorsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 2000MHz XMS3 Memory Kit CL9 1.65Vhttp://www.ebuyer.co...mx8gx3m2a2000c9Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound Thermal paste 3.5gramhttp://www.ebuyer.co...as5-3-5#reviewsNoctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator and Fan CPU Coolerhttp://www.novatech....ers/nh-d14.htmlCrucial 128GB 2.5" M4 SSD SATA-III 6Gb/s - Read 415MB/s Write 175MB/shttp://www.ebuyer.co...b-s-ct128m4ssd2Kingston 2.5" to 3.5" Hard Drive Bracket and Screwshttp://www.ebuyer.co...crews-sna-br-35Antec 300 Three Hundred Casehttp://www.ebuyer.co...0761345-08300-3(second hand) 600w ToughPower supplyThis is the monitor I have http://www.overstock...79/product.html Do the job?Really appreciated any input...I'm looking to order this in the next 24hrs or so and build it at the weekend (I'll keep you up-dated on that! ha)Cheers all, Mike.

Stay away from the Antec 300. Total piece of crap IMHO. I used to have one and I HATED it.Go for a Corsair carbide series of Azza Case. Much better and will look a LOT nicer with the cables managed behind the mobo tray.

I some what agree with this. I have the Antec 300 for 1 year now and its a nice budget case but since you have a nice system you should look for something nicer. I just bought they Corsair 600T and will be coming this friday. The Antec 300 has terrible cable management if you don't have a modular psu. Also you don't need that 2.5 to 3.5 bracket. some ssds come with that bracket and most cases now a days support 2.5 drives by default. In fact the 600T supports 2.5 AND 3.5 drives on each hard drive slot.

Ok thanks for the input, switched to a Corsair case.Any thoughts regarding the 600w power supply, be ok?

600w will be enough. However, I'd go for a Corsair or Seasonic power supply if I were you. I would go for the Corsair tx650w v2 power supply.

My PC Specs:

CPU: Intel i5-2500k @ 4.5Ghz (1.33v)

MOBO: MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3)

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB)

COOLING: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus

CASE: Corsair Carbide Series 400r

GPU: EVGA SuperClocked GeForce Gtx 560 ti

PSU: Corsair TX650M

SSD: Corsair Force Series 3 120gb

OS: Windows 7 Professional 64bit

600w is a bit on the low side. 570 is little less hungry than 580, but nevertheless hungry.Personally, I wouldn't go below 700w for a single GPU system, just to be on the safe side.Don't forget that PSUs also lose some of their power with time - if you are buying 2nd handed, take that into consideration - you can count up to 10% (some say 20%, but I guess that depends on the quality of capacitors) loss in power on the PSU, depending how old. Over one year, if usage about 24/7, you can count in about 10%.Also take into consideration what PSU it is, if it has 80 PLUS enery efficiency. New quality CPUs have that, and some even claim 90+... Also a considerably important thing when getting a new computer.I agree with Antec, good that you changed that. I built a computer with Antec 300 because a friend wanted a budget case... ugh... never again that piece of crap. Although solid. And one thing I would recommend: either put in 1866mhz RAM CL9, or get 2133 CL9. Point is, 2500K can't use 2000mhz. It will automatically run it 1866. Either save money or go extra.See what you can find and post here. Some general recommendations here are GSkill Ripjaws 2133 CL9 - F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD

Thanks for the feedback. I changed to the corsair 400r case. With regards to the memory Word Not Allowed, it actually worked out cheaper this way for some reason.Majority of the parts arrived this morning photo.jpgWaiting for the case and starting the build on Saturday...will keep you posted

Good luck with it!

What was the total cost? I use ebuyer too and am pricing parts to upgrade to sometime in next few months
