Ok, I know how to dial up atc, but when I push that button, I only get the "File flight plan" option. When I tune into the correct freq, what button do I push to acually talk to ground, tower, app, dep, etc... ?

Just tried myself...Dialed in Ground frequency (Com1), hit the enter key, file flight plan, fill in the box with dept / dest / etc... and filed the plan, box went away. Then hit the enter key again and there was "Request Clearance" listed in the menu, same menu where you file (the big green transparent box that comes up when you hit the enter key). Thanks Lightplane. As a pilot, I'm aware of the process, just wasn't sure how to bring up ATC in X-Plane. Still use to FSX.

No need, I have plenty of Sectionals, and AFD.

You need to dial in Clearance Delivery (CD) frequency to get your clearance, then dial in ground to request taxi. If no clearance delivery frequency at your airport, use ground and if no ground use the tower.

My mistake, I assumed he already had that part figured out. My local airports initial contact is Ground. Wasn't thinking about the rest of the users that might read this that have absolutely zero knowledge of the process.Glen

I'll have the tower clear me for takeoff, but when airborne ascending to my cruise alt, they will tell me I am off course 100% of the time. Is there something I need to be entering besides departure/arrival airport and altitude (in the flight plan page)? Thanks!Bob

Nope. It's a bug or a limitation of the current ATC. If you filed direct, then you need to turn torwards your destination and fly centre of one airport to the centre of the other to be on course. (set your GPS then fly until your GPS shows on-course, then turn on course). I just ignore ATC when it yells on climb out that I'm off course - usually because I know that and I'm in the process of turning onto course.
