How can I reverse my cocky idiocy?

Featured Replies

OK, so I got a computer last year.Dell 2.4Ghz P41 Gb Ram120 Hard drive120 Radeon ATI card.I felt pretty good about myself. I thought I had a decent system. But I got cocky and in way over my head.So my awesome sibling surprised me with FS9 this holiday.SO what did I do? I am not a computer whiz, but why let that stop me right?I downloaded a LOT of scenery: Israel, all the NY airports, LAX, ORD, HNL, SYD, LGB....I can go on. I dnlded a bit of flyable a/c but not too many. But I downloaded a load of PAI planes too. A LOT.Now... my frame rate is shot! I feel like such an idiot. It goes from 8.0 0r 11.5 t o20, all in jerky jumps.A) Should I start taking stuff out in order to get a nice rate? for example, it I fly around NY, it jostles from 2.2 to 19.0 kind of getting stuck.I will check computer for spyware now, defraged 2 weeks ago.I know that this is good sites to find help, but I wanted to start asking for help here as well. tips? ideas?thank you for reading and guiding me.

Do you have all the latest drivers for your hardware? Especially check video card drivers. http://www.ati.com/Also, where are your graphics slider settings? Try switching them all to default. As a test fly into areas where you don't have custom scenery installed. Complex scenery can really bring down performance, especially if you are adding a lot of AI traffic. Do a search on this forum for "performance" and "frame rate". You will get lots and lots of tips. With your specs (although more detail on the video card would help, I'm not familiar with that model) you can run fs2004.
