Yes it does work. It replaces the fsx files with the fs2004 ones so that you can see the raindrops in fsx. This file is from Flight1. It is a tool you can use

Ya I'm pretty sure it doesn't work with advanced addons like the NGX. Curious that you saw it working in the AoA videos...Can you perhaps share a screenie?
