February 26, 200422 yr When running FS2004 with my Saitek X45 joystick, I notice immediately after loading a new flight, the wings don't stay level at all and the plane keeps gradually banking to the left. This never happened to me in FS2002. And it occurs no matter which plane I fly. It's as if one of the ailerons is stuck...I use aileron trim to adjust it, but that still doesn't work - I'm constantly fighting it. This is very annoying and I can't concentrate on the flying lessons or *any* flight for that matter.Bottom line - is there a setting I can change in FS2004.cfg or elsewhere so the aircraft will stop banking like this? Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
February 26, 200422 yr So, are you saying that if the joystick is disabled (using only the keypad to fly the plane) that the planes do not bank to the left? If that is the case, then I don't know what is causing the problem. But if the planes also bank when using the keypad, then remember that an improperly trimmed rudder can also cause a bank. And remember that aileron and rudder trim carry over from one plane to another. And remember that not all panels show both trim wheels but the effect is still there even if no wheel is visible. But you probably already know that. So, what to do?I find that loading a plane that has a complete turn and bank indicator is helpful (I usually just use the Cessna 172). I get airborn and set the autopilot to keep me on a staight course. Look at the T&B indicator. The bar should be straight up and the ball should be centered. If this is not the case then something is way off and I use Ctrl + KP4/KP6 and Ctrl + KP0/KPEnter, with autopilot active to adjust aileron and/or rudder trim. If the T&B indications don't prove anything with outopilot engaged, then I disable it and watch the result. If the plane starts to bank and turn, then again, the bar and ball make it easier for me to see the effects of trimming the ailerons and rudder. I hope that this is helpful to you. R-
February 26, 200422 yr Try increasing the Null zone and decreasing the sensitivity within the fs2004 joystick settings. If I remember correctly, mine is set at just a tiny bit out from the left. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
February 26, 200422 yr I recently had a problem with the rudder on the Saitek X45. It would deflect and then immediately center. The result was that I couldn't steer when taxiing. I never took off.I thought it was an FS problem, but I didn't know what on earth to change. So I restarted the computer and went into the Game Controllers section of Control Panel, and recalibrated my X45. After doing this, everything was ok. No more problems with the rudder.I'm not saying that you have an uncalibrated stick, but it wouldn't hurt to go through the process. At least, you can rule that out.
February 26, 200422 yr Hey all,Thanks for the good suggestions. Now have a few ideas that I can checkon later this evening!
