February 27, 200422 yr Hi, my father has told me he has a new problem with MSFS2002, and I can't duplicate it. When he starts a new flight, the aircraft appears with the engines NOT running, and Ctrl-E (Which he's checked in the setings is still assigned to autostart engines) doesn't do anything. If he can go through the steps to manually start - for example just turning on the mains and twisting the magneto in a Cessna - it starts up.How do make the default go back to starting with engines running?Richard
February 27, 200422 yr He may have saved a flight as his default flight that has introduced these problems. Perhaps have him select the default flight from Meigs (FS2002) and check the box to "Make This the Default Flight" (wording probably off here) before clicking on "Fly Now!". Have him exit FS and restart it, and this should restore his flights on startup as desired. Any time you save a different-than-original flight as the default flight, you also save its settings, flight-state, engine-state, and other variables as well. This may have caused the problem.Kevin
February 28, 200422 yr Richard, let me know if Kevin's solution works for you.I have had a problem with a couple of airplanes that won't start AT ALL. I'd be interested to see if your dad is running into a similar thing; if so, we can both benefit from finding the solution. Thanks!
February 28, 200422 yr Author Richard,Kevin has a point there. I like to start FS with engines off. But once I let the contact on too long and the battery got empty. Then no way to start the engine again. I think I once read in a forum topic how to avoid unloading the battery or recuperate it. But I have no idea when (and if) this topic qwa discussed. So redefine a flight and I think the problem will be solved.Roger Roger See my specs in my profile
February 29, 200422 yr Thanks, guys, I'll have him check those things out.Roger... as to the battery running low, there's an opton in FSUIPC (reg'd version only) to increase battery life, even the the point of making the batery effectively immortal.I've not had this probem myself as I use a physical cockpit to fly MSFS (Which is why I have FSUIPC installed)and all my real switches and knobs work fine.Richard
