January 30, 201214 yr I was doing some maintenance on my system and a question of video and album art file storage came up. WMP12 (and I guess WMC but I don't use that) will create album jpgs in your music library folder. OK that's not such a big deal, other than the files are marked system/hidden so you have to enable that to see them. But more intresting is that there is also a cache of these files in your user local appdata. that cvan get kind of big and waste space on your C drive (I'm using an SSD for Win7 and FSX so sapce is an issue for me). I guess WMC also stores stuff in the local appdata. But what was a bigger find, is that if you enable WMP media sharing files are cached into Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player. Now I only had a few megs in there, but in searching online, someone claimed to have over 20 Gb of files cached in there. Apparently you can just delete all the files and WMP will still be happy. But if you have a problem with your C drive filling up you might have a look into WMP file caching (assuming you use WMP/music and video files in Win 7).scott s..
