February 12, 201214 yr Is WGS 84 part of PMDG and FSX? Can locations (with it's gps coordinates) found in google maps be transferred to FMC without inaccuracy? Geir Geir Hansen
February 12, 201214 yr I believe FSX assumes the earth is a perfecf ellipsoid as opposed to an oblate one, even though it works on on the WGS84 datum. So you may get some error there, in terms of physically matching the terrain.Google Maps I believe is actually deriving it's coordinates from a UTM to Lat/Long coversion, as it uses Mercantor projection (make's everything square and flat basically) so you may get some additional error as well, especially at high latitudes. Not to mention the human error from the aligning of scenery meshes, photoscenery, etc etc.But I think it would be relatively small error. If you're trying to overfly your house or something I believe it will be very very close. Patrick Houghton
February 12, 201214 yr Author There are some small airports in FSX I have noticed which are included but not selectable. There are even NDBs next to the airport. Making an approach would still require at least some accurate waypoints before FAF ( visual descent ). Google maps provides coordinates. Geir Hansen
