March 4, 200422 yr A question for the scenery designers out there. I have created a close to real-world ai airline with accuarate schedules. This one particular airline Indair has about 90% of its flights between 8 am and 1 am. With about 40 aircraft total and three major hubs, I am left with nearly 12 aircraft sitting overnight at the terminal, in addition to the other international flights that run 24/7. As you might guess, it plays havoc on the fps. I am thinking of putting up a generic building "hangar" which would house any aircraft above the actual gate limit. Since AI aircaft do not crash into buildings, it would be a matter of just creating the building using SDK bglcomp and adding parking gates and parking connectors under it that are coded for Indair using AFCAD, so that ATC does not direct me into those spots. This woulda also limit the standing area needed since I can overlap aircraft without worrying about them looking odd (from outside the building). Not the best solution, but again space at these airports is limited in FS9, because of polygons. The question part is this - will having the aircraft hidden under the building help with the frame rates?Thsnks in advance,Nathan.

I have mae the experience, that when taxing, aircraft which are behind airport buildings have the same influence on fps as if they were visible.Wolfgang
March 4, 200422 yr Author I agree, to a point. Keep in mind, that although the aircraft isn't visible, the model and textures are still loaded into memory, at the expense of your framrates. However, I've noticed that if a high-detailed aircraft pans out of your field of view, framerates can increase. For example, when you are sitting on the runway ready to take off, and you have the whole terminal and many aircraft in your field of view - framerates can be low. As you travel down to the end of the runway, and aircraft travel out of your field of view, framerates can increase. So, maybe there's a small benefit to having the aircraft hidden.- Martin My site: www.martinstrong.com/FS_Project.htm
