February 15, 201214 yr Hi, as a fan of Xplane, I don't fly fsx as much as I'd like, but I'm hearing good stories about Active sky and IF, how they can add an element of turbulence/movement to the feel of flying in FSX.Can anyone tell me which is the better of the 2 for introducing this feel? I'm not interested in any of the other enhancement features, since I already have REX. Honest opinions please! Also, would a dynamic plane like the A2A cub or Spitfire be adversely affected or even better?Tx Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
March 23, 201214 yr Commercial Member IdealFlight introduces a deflected and thermal air currents engine to REX, ASE or FSX real world weather and is not just for the IdealFlight global weather sim. This adds a great deal of feel for GA and Bush Flying. You can actually feel the hilltops below the aircraft as the winds are deflected.Steve Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
March 23, 201214 yr Active Sky will give you the best experience. You don't need to use both programs.
March 24, 201214 yr Commercial Member It may be more important for you to know that a lot of people use ASE and Ideal Flight together because they want real world weather. IF does not download weather reports for weather but instead runs an offline global simulation, and real world weather is well catered for by ASE. The reason you hear of IF being used with ASE is more to do with the plans, briefing, and in-fight tools you get with IF. ASE is recommended because the real world weather that comes as default with FSX needs dressing up a little to appear more realistic. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
