March 8, 200422 yr Is there a limit to the number of acft in the Aircraft folder before FS9 starts having problems? (beyond taking forever to boot up and/or change acft *grin*)I've suddenly been having intermittant crashes for no real reason. While troubleshooting the crashes, I ruled the number of acft possibility out. But it raised the question for curiosity's sake.
March 8, 200422 yr I don't think that's possible. Those are just "files". Not even being loaded when you load the flight. With todays computing powers, don't think that should be a problem.Me myself, I tend to have less a/c, only the quality ones and only the ones I really do fly - and I fly only payware :)
March 8, 200422 yr <<<>>>As far as I am aware, the aircraft library is the one area that DOES slow down loading of FS, whereas large gauge folders and scenery folders don't. I recently reduced my aircraft folder from about 2,000 to 100 aircraft, putting the rest in a 'hangar' folder for when I want to pull them out (yeah, right, bye bye 'planes) ... bingo, instant loading.:)>>>>Man, are you missing a lot, Word Not Allowed. Don't put yourself in too much of a box there. Some of the best stuff available for flightsim is freeware.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
March 8, 200422 yr Author AFAIK, there is no limit. I have well over 1600 aircraft counting all the AI aircraft installed. Aircraft library does slow loading of FS, nut are not loaded while you fly. For randmom CTDs search the forum here. This is aknown bug having possibly to do with seasonal textures. Check if these crashes occur in the same spot or only during winter. I had them always in one spot WNW of EDDF over the Rhine valley. Misha
