February 17, 201214 yr Hi.I'm currently growing accustomed to my new-ish Carenado Seneca on a desultory round the world trip. Soon I'll be off to a temporary home-made strip on South Georgia before turning right and following the line of the Sandwich and South Orkney Islands for the Antarctic Peninsula.I've been thinking for a while of switching to a Twin Otter so have clocked up a couple of hours in the PAD model but find its handling very twitchy. The aircraft's pitching response to changes in throttle seems quite extreme too, making trimming interesting, though I've decided that must be the result of having the props' thrust a long way above the plane's C of G (increase rpm and find the plane pitching nose-down, decrease and suffer a nose-up...).Before I adopt it (or the Aerosim version) for my next RTW leg, are there any real world Twin Otter pilots here who can confirm that either the PAD or Aerosim model's aerodynamics and handling are accurate? Thanks one and all.D
February 17, 201214 yr Sorry, I'm not a twin otter pilot, but in regards to the pitching, it's possible that the thrust flow over the tailand/or angle of thrust from the position of the engines could offset that pitching moment in real life. The only way to model that is FS is to lower the position the engines are placed. In the aircraft.cfg example below, 3 refers to vertical distance of engine in feet above model center. You could try lowering that number to the same number as cg height (shown in example below as -.6)[GeneralEngineData]engine_type =0Engine.0 =9.000, 0.000, 3fuel_flow_scalar=1.00000min_throttle_limit =0.00000[weight_and_balance]max_gross_weight =3600.0empty_weight =2330.00000 // (feet) longitudinal, lateral, vertical distance from specified datumreference_datum_position = 0.000, 0.000, 0.000 // (feet) distance from FlightSim Reference position: (1/4 chord, centerline, waterline)empty_weight_CG_position = 0.442, 0.000, -0.600I've never tried this plane, so I can't say much about it, sorry. February 18, 201214 yr Author Hi.Thank you for that; I think it could make the difference. I'll give it a go when I get home.Cheers,D
