About crashes. Again

I've never had my system crash because of FS, ever.A few times FS went down, but always when using 3rd party addons, and always ones that were either unstable betas or old addons designed for FS2000 based on FS98 technology which can't be expected to be fully stable as FS98 tech was officially abandoned for compatibility. And yes, I use FS a lot. Longest flight to date 17 and a half hours nonstop, started FS about 5 hours before the flight started and shut it down 2-3 hours after I landed. I've had FS run stably while sitting on the tarmac for several days at an end using a variety of aircraft and scenery. My system of course is not overclocked, and runs only officially released drivers (so no stuff from guru3d and other non-official sources). That usually has a LOT to do with system stability.

I had so many problems with FS9 that I was ready to throw in the towel. I was so frustrating!! I tried everything to no avail. Then I solved my problem after reading a suggestion on the PMDG website. I've found that it did not only stablize my PMDG planes but FS9 in general. PMDG says the problem stems from saved flights involving different versions of add-on aircraft. In other words you have a saved flight using a previous version then go back to fly the same saved flight with an updated version of an aircraft. In my case I used to save every flight then go back and continue a flight from where I left off sometimes after patching that airplane. If you have lots of different planes it's easy to run into this problem. It can also be a problem if you save a flight with one airplane and then go and change the aircraft to a different one while technically still being "in the original flight".My suggestion is to go in and delete all of your saved flights. Create the default flight so that FS9 always starts with the Cessna and then switch to the aircraft of your choice. The PMDG site offers some additional pointers that may help so check it out. This tip has made FS9 almost crashfree for me when it was pretty much unusable before.Good Lucksg
