VNAV Disengaged

Featured Replies

Whenever I load a saved flight, it starts off with VNAV disengaged. Any idea as to what might be causing this? It stated happening after I installed REX, but I'm not sure if they're connected.Thanks,boeing247

I have the same. And it's impossible to turn it on again. PMDG said this simply is a limitation we'll have to live with. States are great for default states on the ground, but saving a flight in mid air will quite often go wrong.

I got it turned on again by engaging ALT hold and then re-engaging VNAV. Have you tried that? I'm mostly just looking for the cause.

I've actually found a way around this issue (sometimes LOL).I have also found that, if you save your flight with a SID or STAR already programmed in, it may not work (probably won't work).Ok, when you load, make sure you are paused.Go into the FMC and to the route load page. Make sure your dep and arr are in there correctly.Go to page 2 with Next Page key and then hit the activate LSK and then the Execute button.Go into the PERF INIT and choose all the proper inputs here (in some cases this info has saved; in some not) If you need to, enter your CRZ alt and hit execute. I think this is the rub. In some cases this info saves ok and you can skip this part of the process and VNAV will work anyway.Go to the legs page. Hopefully, by this time, the FMC will be asking you which WP you want to pick up from; if not, check your DU and see what your next WP actually is. Click the LSK next to that entry to put into scratchpad and then hit LSK1L to enter it in at the top of your route.Hit Execute button.Engage slew. Do not touch any of your flight controls this includes any trim you may have set up on a separate axis. Basically, check your slew controls in FSX before you do this.hit P to unpause and let the 20 seconds of death commence (you really need to be saving in climb or cruise. I have seen unfortunate results in descent as it can't really do the fuel and CI calcs with so little time left..Dis-engage slewThe whole thing seems to be a hit and miss affair. As Ryan said it's not really designed to work like that but you can sometimes fool it!bestjake
