April 3, 200422 yr Tried the FS9 confog delete. This does not work.I will go right now and try the change in resolution, although I am running a halfway decent graphics card. It's not the best but it gets me by until I can get the better one that came out (I currently have the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB -- looking at upgrading to 256MB newer card).I am also going to try that safe mode and see what happens.
April 3, 200422 yr Trtied safe mode. It will nmot start. Has the same effect. Shows the splash screen then pops back to desktop. **shrug** Trying the resolution change next . . . .
April 3, 200422 yr Okay, same effect :-( Changing the resokution in the CFG file has also the same effect.I guess this leaves hardware conflict and i will have to wait until FS2k6 or I get another machine -- whichever comes first . . . .At least it worked for a while on this computer, but I can not see why it would be anything other than hardware related. Many thanks for the help, all.
April 3, 200422 yr At least it worked for a while on this computer, but I can not see why it would be anything other than hardware related.Try it on another computer perhaps your DVD/CD-Rom might have problems and not copying or installing the data properly from your cds. Try it on a friends computer or even ask a major computer software dealer like CompUSA if you could just install the program run it and see if it works. Then of Course uninstall it so it isn't in there system. What is the condition of your cd's? The reasons I ask this is that One My disc 4 has had alot of scratches just from use and maybe one time when I got the dreaded MSFS report error messege and my cd started running. I have the cd-patch now so I don't have to use the cds. I may have to buy a new set of cds if I ever have to reinstall it again. Secondly. scratches could cause certain files to be distorted or corrupted while installing into the computer. This could be the cause of the crash after the splash screen. Just a thought. Hope you get this straightened out.Maybe there is a way I could just copy every scenery and my file structure with MSFS now so If I have to ever reinstall I can just simply copy the files from the CD's to my hard drive again. Anyone verify this? That way I won't have to use the ones I purchased or have to buy new ones if the ones that I have don't work.
