March 12, 200422 yr when red alert notice me i'm overspeed? It usually happens because of the winds while enroute and AP/AT engaged. What do you guys usually do in this case? Thanks in advance for helpingLuigi ;-)
March 12, 200422 yr Hi,I usually keep my autopilot speed about 25 to 30 kts or so below the aircrafts top speed. But because of severe/abrupt winds aloft changes when using real world weather overspeed still happens. The speed only reduces slowly back to the autopilot setting, and if you leave yourself in overspeed condition for too long then the aircraft will get overstressed and crash. So I usually hit my speed brakes(/ key) for a few moments to quickly bring my speed down.Jim
March 12, 200422 yr If you have FSUIPC, you can select an option to smooth wind changes near aircraft. This prevents those huge and sudden wind speed and/or direction changes which cause this. Also depending on the weather addon you use (if any) I think that setting the option to not allow upper level wind gusts helps as well. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF

Hi,I'm using FS2004 and everybody I've seen, including Pete Dowson, has said that there is no solution to smooth the abrupt wind changes in FS2004 yet. I realize FSUIPC had a cure for this for FS2002. But my understanding is that it has not been able to do so for FS2004. Have I been misreading or misinterepreting something? And I'd rather get some turbulence now and then and would therefor prefer to leave upper level wind gusts enabled. Of course if I were to find this problem was completely unmanagable and constantly crashing my aircraft I would disable them. For right now, it's really a nuisance more than a completely devestating problem.Regards,Jim
March 13, 200422 yr I recently moved back to fs2002, so I can't remember which ones worked in which sim. I am pretty sure that the wind gusts are a big part of the problem, at least for PMDG 737. The autopilot on the 737 is really sensitive to wind, especially at 4x time acceleration. For other planes it usually isn't nearly as severe. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
