March 13, 200422 yr My fps in the Flight1 Piper meridian are extremely disappointing! i am using the dxt3 textures and low res VC but it seems impossible to get anything above 25fps. I think it has something to do with the gps trainer running in the background, and i have tried the Hyperthreading, which works excellent, but the 2d view slows everything downto about 25 fps. Is this normal w/ the meridian? My specs are:PIV 3.00 ghz w/ HTPC 3200 512mb RAMATI Radeon 9600XT160gb hard driveand my sliders in fs9 are in the middle on everythingAny help or advice is greatly appriciated!!Thanks, Jeff
March 13, 200422 yr turn the hyperthreading off !!Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
March 13, 200422 yr Down to 25 fps, and you think that's low? :-lol I think you're getting enough to fly the airplane smoothly. I get 18 FPS in a system like $1000 cheaper than yours with the Meridian, which by the way, is the best add-on I've seen in matters of FPS, taking into account the amount of processing power that requires that airplane (very, very complex avionics), 18 FPS in my computer is extremely good and smooth enough to have a great flying experience.Go out and fly, don't worry about the FPS, you're doing great. :-cool Carlos.
March 13, 200422 yr There is an alternative to turning Hyperthreading off. It means an extra step every time you run FS... but it works great for me and a lot of other folks from what I've heard. It's nice to be able to leave Hyperthreading enabled. ;)--------------"A less drastic alternative to disabling HT altogether is to manually set the CPU affinity for fs9 to only use cpu0 instead of the HT cpu0 and cpu1 default.Start fs9 without a default flight or make sure the default flight does NOT load a plane/panel containing the 530xp. After fs9 is loaded up Alt-Tab to your desktop, right click the taskbar, choose taskmanager and then select the Processes tab. Locate the fs9 process, right click it and choose set affinity. Finally uncheck the second cpu1 and say ok. You can now loadup the meridian and garmin trainer without significant framerate loss."Phil--------------I have no framerate loss at all using this method. I get the same peformance as I would turning Hyperthreading off. In case you are wondering where you turn Hyperthreading off at it should be an option in your BIOS.Hope that helps,Jim
