FaceTrackNoIR with Active Camera?

Featured Replies

Hi. I hope somebody may be able to help me. I have been using Active Camera successfully with FS9.1 (plus no-CD patch) for some time. I have now discovered TrackIR, but decided that this was simply much too expensive. And then I discovered the free FaceTrackNoIR which simply uses a webcam to track your face.I have installed the program (version 1.60), but simply cannot get it to work in tandem with FS. If I run it on its own the tracking works fine, but as soon as I start up FS the tracking grinds to a halt. I have been asking for help on FaceTrackNoIR's own forum (I wish the program had a simpler name!), and they seem to be suggesting that there is a conflict between this and Active Camera. My system runs Windows 7 64 bit, and the creator of the software had the same problem as me when he tried to run FS on his similar system. He was however able to solve the problem by running FS in Vista SP2 compatibility mode. I tried this but it made no difference. I have tried deactivating the ActiveCamera2004.dll file to stop Active Camera running, but that didn't solve the problem either. So I have searched for any conflicts between Active Camera and TrackIR and came up with the following:http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/03-enhanced-games/game-flight-simulator-2004.htmlhttp://forum.naturalpoint.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6921Furthermore a review of TrackIR on Avsim (http://www.avsim.com/pages/0206/IR4/IR4.htm) states:"One of the reasons I hadn’t looked more into getting TrackIR sooner, was some forum threads that had titles stating how TrackIR and Active Camera didn’t work together. That is not at all true, you do have to turn off the head latency effect in Active Camera (RealView if you are using that) for TrackIR to work correctly but all the other wonderful features of Active Camera work without a hitch and Active Camera’s ability to smoothly move from one position in the airplane to another gives a nice effect for moving about a larger cockpit."I have turned off head latency in Active Camera, but this doesn't solve the problem either. I assume that FaceTrackNoIR works in effectively the same way as TrackIR (apart from the infrared input), so I cannot see any reason why it shouldn't be possible to combine the two programs.Has anybody tried this and had a successful result? Does anybody have any tips about how to resolve the problem? Thanks for your help.
