Orbx Shoreham without FTX EU England?
So does the Shoreham scenery come with its own mesh then? If not, then elevation won't be an issue, and in any case, Shoreham is more or less at sea level. Adrian

Orbx Shoreham without FTX EU England?
Thanks Glenn. I am not worried about blending the coverage area. I will probably buy Ground Environment X Europe to improve the ground textures, having been very pleased with the FS9 version. This should make the transition between the Shoreham scenery and the surrounding textures less stark. Can anybody be specific about which features will be missing? Has anybody tried using Orbx Shoreham as a standalone? Thanks.

Orbx Shoreham without FTX EU England?
Hi. I have recently switched from FS9 to FSX and am looking for a scenery for a suitable replacement for Just Flight's wonderful scenery for Shoreham EGKA. Shoreham is my closest small airfield, and probably one of the most beautiful in the UK. I have discovered Orbx' Shoreham scenery, but I do not have FTX EU England - and to be honest I have no intention of installing that base scenery. I tend to use aircraft that fly quite high, so I don't need all the detail for flying low and slow in a Cessna for example. I know that you are supposed to have the England scenery installed before you install Shoreham, but I would like to know whether the scenery can theoretically be used on its own? What would I lose? Are there features that wouldn't work? Thanks.

London Olympic Park
Yes, I have found the Shard too, and that is a welcome addition to FS9. As for the Olympic Park, I hope somebody does decide to create a scenery as this will be such an important addition, if only for nostalgic reasons. Alas I don't have the knowhow or skills to do it myself.

London Olympic Park
Does anybody know of any scenery that depicts the London Olympic Park? It is now a major landmark that is visible on arrivals to Heathrow 27L/R, it is very close to London City, and some departure routes from Gatwick will also go nearby. It would be great to have the major buildings in FS - the Olympic Stadium, the Aquatics Centre, the Orbit, the Copper Box and the Velodrome. While on the subject of sporting venues in London, I noticed that FS2004 needs updates for both Wembley Stadium and Wimbledon, as the buildings for both are obsolete in FS. And what about Twickenham rugby stadium which would be very visible to the left of aircraft on relatively short finals to Heathrow 27L/R. Does anybody know of any scenery that will resolve these matters? Does FSX correct them (I don't have FSX)? Is it possible to import them to FS2004? Thanks.

Sao Paulo 2008 scenery?
I am trying to find the Sao Paulo 2008 scenery created by Fernando Marcato and others. It contains Congonhas, Guarulhos and Campo de Marte airports. Wherever I look the link takes me to a page in Portuguese that looks like this, and which has nothing to do with FS: http://www.cvnet.com.br/mktp.htm The file name looks a little odd: SaoPaulo2008.12.zip. Is this scenery still available? If so, where can I find it? Thanks.

Loss of AC electrical power
Problem solved - I hope! It suddenly occurred to me to check FSUIPC for the battery life bug fix. I noticed that this option had somehow become switched off - no idea how, as I certainly didn't switch it off! I have switched it on again and tested the B200 startup. The AC is now working fine, I am getting the full 400 Hz and 118 V, and neither is dropping off. Fingers crossed I will now be able to take to the air again. B)

Loss of AC electrical power
Yes, I follow the checklist to the letter, and yes, the inverter is activated. I have tried both inverters, but it makes no difference.

Loss of AC electrical power
I have suddenly developed an electrical problem with my favourite aircraft, Aeroworx King Air B200. I have posted on the dedicated forum for the aircraft, but am also posting here as more people will see this (I hope). I am starting the engines as normal, and the battery and both generators are switched on. However when I check the electrical gauges on the overhead panel I notice that while the DC gauges are fine, the AC gauge is not. It should be showing 400 Hz and 118 volts. Instead I am getting only 300 Hz and barely 110 volts. A few minutes later this has dropped to 200 Hz and a similar drop in voltage. A few minutes later the needle on the gauge is not registering anything. And finally a few minutes later all of my panel instruments (apart from the EADI and EHSI) switch off and are completely dark. This has now happened the last two times I have tried to fly the King Air. Now there is a very good reason why I am not an electrician - I have no idea about the difference between DC and AC or what each is used for. Please could somebody give me some advice about what could be causing this loss of AC power and how I can fix this. As things stand I am unable to fly this aircraft as I have lost most of my instruments by the time I am ready to taxi. Thanks for your help.

NDB causing FS crash?
Alas no, I don't fly around ENGM in real life. I have lived in Oslo before and would love to move back there one day. So my flying is limited to the FS world, and I fly in and out of Oslo quite often. You can get the latest charts from https://www.ippc.no/norway_aip/current/main_eng.html. Incidentally, the airport has started expansion work towards the creation of a second terminal. The new terminal will effectively be a new north pier stretching out from the middle of the existing pier. I was at ENGM last month, and you can already see the tarmac that has been laid for new taxiways to the north of the current ramp. If you are interested have a look at http://www.osl.no/osl/micro/OSL2017en. The work will not be finished until 2017, but I hope that the Norway Airports team will continue developing the airport to reflect what is happening at the real airport. Adrian

NDB causing FS crash?
Success! I reinstalled Norway Airports, and then noticed that the scenery folder contains 5 AFCAD bgl files, one of which is for ENGM. So I disabled the ENGM AFCAD file in the separate scenery folder for Norway Airports AFCAD just in case there was a conflict between the two. I am now able to fly past the NDB and the nearby location of the previous hang with no problems. Very pleased and quite relieved! Thanks again for your help. :good:

NDB causing FS crash?
I think I may have found the problem at the first attempt without having to resort to reinstalling GE Pro. I decided to try to rule out other potential causes by deactivating various items on my Scenery.cfg file one by one. My first test was to deactivate Norway Airports, so I was taking off from the default FS ENGM. Bingo! The aircraft crossed the NDB without blinking and continued beyond the usual location of the crash. Looks like something may be corrupted in Norway Airports. I have now downloaded the latest version of the scenery plus the latest AFCAD files (although these form a different scenery layer and were not deactivated in the test). I don't have time to install the new files today, so this will probably have to wait until Wed or Thurs. I will report back. Thanks for your help again.

NDB causing FS crash?
Hi David. I use Ground Environment Pro for my textures. I have run GE Pro and loaded the textures again. Took off from ENGM this time to shorten the flight, and still the same problem. I have tried looking at the FS Fault Finding page that ja99 suggested (http://www.adventure-unlimited.org/faultfinding.php), but when FS crashed I didn't get the error window that is supposed to come up (maybe because I have Windows 7 instead of XP??) and so was unable to indentify what is causing the error. You suggest re-installing the textures. Do you mean I should remove GE Pro and then reinstall it? I fly around ENGM a great deal, and so it is really important that I fix this, especially since the approach routes into ENGM changed last year. When landing on 19L/R the approach comes from much further north than previously and runs over the southern tip of Lake Mjøsa - right where this problem is manifesting itself. Thanks for your help.

NDB causing FS crash?
I hope that somebody will be able to help me with a problem I have discovered over the last week. I was flying in Norway from Kjeller ENKJ to Hamar ENHA. I took off and headed north towards Oslo Gardermoen ENGM. My planned route was to continue north towards MORSKOGEN NBD (MSK 347.0) on the southern tip of Lake Mjøsa, and then to turn north-west towards Hamar. As I was passing overhead MSK FS crashed completely. The picture froze, REX Weather Engine also stopped responding, and I had to shut everything down. A couple of days later I tried the same flight again, and FS crashed at exactly the same location. Today I have tried the flight using a different aircraft, and FS froze up again at the same point. So I decided to try a different approach to the problem and this time flew in the opposite direction from Hamar to Kjeller - once again FS froze up overhead MSK. My final test was to try to fly overhead a different NDB, this time SOLBERG (SLB 414.0) to the south of Oslo Gardermoen. The plane managed this without blinking. By process of elimination the problem is clearly caused by either the scenery or this specific NDB. I use Norway Airports, and also have Lago's Terramesh, Norway Scenic and Ultimate Terrain. The problem is that MSK lies very close to the ILS for ENGM, and while the NDB does not form part of the approach procedure, it is sufficiently close to potentially cause a problem when capturing the ILS. Please could somebody with a similar setup try the same flight and see what happens. Could the NDB cause a system crash, or is it more likely to be a scenery glitch that just happens to be close to the NDB? Thanks for your help.

AI aircraft in Berlin
I have just installed Gernot Zander's freeware scenery for the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport (EDDB) which was released just a couple of days ago. The real airport was supposed to open on 3 June, but the news came through yesterday that the opening is being delayed until later in the summer. The scenery effectively closes the old Tegel (EDDT) and Tempelhof (EDDI) airports by putting crosses on all of the runways, switching off the lights and turning off the navaids. However I have discovered a couple of issues with AI traffic at the airports. I use World of AI and GA Traffic. At the new EDDB I am getting only the airlines that would be expected at the old East Berlin Schönefeld airport (Easyjet, Germanwings, etc) - EDDB is after all an extension of the old airport. I am still getting AI traffic at both EDDT and EDDI. At EDDT I am getting the airlines that you would expect (Lufthansa, BA, etc). At EDDI I am still getting some GA traffic, and yet Tempelhof has in fact been closed since 2008! I accept that I have installed EDDB a month before it was due to open. But that should not be a problem in our FS world! How then can I stop AI traffic appearing at EDDT and EDDI? And how can I get the airlines that fly into EDDT to switch to EDDB? Or is this something that will happen through World of AI updates once the new airport has opened in real life and Tegel has closed? Thanks for your help.

That is perfect! I have also switched on the flight plan, airspeed and heading. Exactly what I wanted. Thank you. :Peace:

AI aircraft behavioural issues
Yes, I have unchecked the "Show manufacturer", and I realise that removes the aardvarks etc. I still get the aircraft type, so that is not a problem. What I really would like to see is the aardvark or whatever replaced by the flight number, in the same way that I do on Flight Sim Commander. In Flight Sim Commander there are no references to aardvarks etc, but you do get the flight number, aircraft type, registration and so on. Is this possible in FS, or is it just a feature of Flight Sim Commander (and a very nice one at that)?

AI aircraft behavioural issues
Well I have solved one of my problems. I had a lucid moment this morning and have now got AISmooth working - all it took was to run it with administrator rights. I would still like to know how to remove the references to aardvarks and fruit stands from my aircraft labels. Any ideas? Thanks.

AI aircraft behavioural issues
Well I have tried both versions 1.11 and 1.20 of AISmooth, and I cannot get either to work. Both show that no aircraft are being monitored and that FS is not running (when of course it is). It also states in the title bar that I have FSUIPC version 0.00, when in fact I have the latest registered version. The same happens regardless of whether I start AISmooth before or after starting FS. Does anybody have a solution? Another irritating AI characteristic that I have discovered is that FS labels the AI aircraft with ridiculous labels: Aardvark, DJC and The Fruit Stand. I believe these labels refer to the creator of the specific AI aircraft. However in Flight Sim Commander the aircraft all have correct and realistic labels, such that a British Airways aircraft will be given a suitable flight number such as BA123 (or maybe BAW123 - can't recall whether it uses ICAO or IATA codes). There is no sign of any aardvarks or fruit stands! Is there any way I can change this in FS? Thanks again. I have now got an up-to-date AFCAD working, so problem solved. What are the alternatives to AISmooth?

AI aircraft behavioural issues
Thanks Tim. I am trying a more up to date AFCAD for my UK2000 Gatwick scenery, and will see whether this fixes the problem. I have found AISmooth v1.2 on Avsim. When I researched this on Google it referred to v1.1, and also a sister program called AISeparation, which I have also found (fsaisv11.zip). AISeparation is supposed to be better than AISmooth v1.1, but AISmooth v1.2 is dated later than AISeparation, so should I stick with AISmooth v1.2?

AI aircraft behavioural issues
Thank you. Yes, I have seen that this is the key file, but as I said before, I don't want to lose my GA aircraft entirely. Project AI used to offer a file called "FS2004 Default General Aviation Traffic Installer (realistic registrations)" which enabled you to reinstall GA traffic once you had disabled the traffic030528.bgl, but the Project AI site has changed and I can no longer find this file (assuming of course that it would work with World of AI).

AI aircraft behavioural issues
I did click just once, but all I got was "waiting for www.avsim.net" and then a blank screen. So I went back and tried again, got the same result, and tried again. It was only when I checked the forum listings that I discovered that the posting had actually succeeded, but of course 3 times.

AI aircraft behavioural issues
I have recently installed World of AI, and am very pleased with the way this has livened up my airports and made them more realistic. However I have come across some strange behavioural issues: 1. A few days ago I was taxiing behind a queue of aircraft to take off from London Gatwick. For some reason the first aircraft lined up on the runway but didn't take off. The aircraft behind it also lined up, but didn't take off either. I soon had around 4-5 aircraft all superimposed on top of each other lined up on the runway, but none would take off. So I had to turn my aircraft around and line up via a taxiway further down the runway so that I could take off. 2. Yesterday I installed the special bgl file that Fly Tampa have produced to allow World of AI to work at the old Kai Tak. I use the 9 Dragons version instead of Fly Tampa, and the bgl works great. However I suddenly saw 6 aircraft approaching on the Rwy 13 IGS approach with virtually no horizontal separation - it was like a flock of birds all flying together! The first aircraft landed, but the other 5 behind it had to go around. Is there anything I can tweak to remove these issues, or is it just a quirk with AI that I will have to put up with? And finally, is there any way I can stop the AI aircraft displaying the default FS liveries for the airliners? I want to keep the default liveries for GA aircraft, but seeing the odd default 737 livery amongst all the World of AI aircraft kind of detracts from the realism. Thanks for your help. Sorry for the multiple entries of this posting. There seems to be a problem posting on the forum at the moment as all I am getting is a blank screen when I click on Add reply.

A Plea to all Software Developers, big and small..... Please read.
Yes, I too would be very interested if somebody manages to find a solution to this. I never used FSHotSFX when I had an XP system (didn't know it existed), but I totally agree that this is the one flaw in FS that takes away from the realism. I too have stuck with FS9, even though I now have a system that could run FSX - based on Windows 7 64 bit, hence the problem. My FS9 set up is now so good that I see no need to go to FSX. There are loads of us who have done the same, and contrary to what some of the commercial developers have said, there must surely still be a market for this sort of product for FS9?
