March 2, 201214 yr I had a good try of FLIGHT yesterday evening. Some things I like and some I really dislike. I will try to concentrate on what have not been said hundred of times yet on the forum ....3 screens surround view is my biggest issue for now. the fisheye effect on the 2 side screens completely void the immersion factor for me. The cockpit front and side window are just cut in the middle of the screen and looking left show you the frame of the airplane also cut. Turning with a fisheye effect also is not really pleasant and unrealistic. Anybody found a way to adjust view in Surround for more realistic experience?I really loved the sound of the wind. But the nicest touch was the sound of the engine change when windmilling at different dive angle. You dive so the windmilling increase and so the engine speed. Well done and absolutely realistic.I think for a person new for aviation, the instruction are really well made. Its concentrated, short and to the point. The VASI instruction in one of the challenge can get somebody grab the concept very fast. Same for the checklist when the first flight in the Stearman is done. The lady does it for you but an new pilot will see rapidly that there is several preparation steps to do for different airplane system. She leave the door open to use the checklist or to memorize as people prefer. If one of the objective of Flight is to bring people to aviation, this is a good way to introduce them without loosing them in the process.Dynamic lighting in cockpit is very interesting. I tested rolling the wing to produce shadow in cockpit and this is really interesting as it makes the cockpit more natural and lively.I dont like the units of measure in international system. I tried to tweak the Units_of_measure=0 in the CFG file by trying 0 or 2 but Flight just bring it back to 0 in the file. Didnt find the way to have measures in feets.Good thinking when MS prepared the dialogs sometimes. In the Stearman introductory flight, I decidedd to try a roll as I already own my RW plane and aerobatic annotation. The rool was fine (you have to thrust me on that one) but the interesting point was the lady comment "Wow, Nice rool !!". I had a good laught at thinking that somebody had to code this in the software just in case somebody want to try a rool at that point. Maybe it works also in others instruction..I liked the automatic assignment of some button on my CH yoke. Flight already assigned Run/Brake to button 1, next camera to button 2, flaps to button 5 and 6, gear to button 8 etc..... interesting for a fast start and we can change it later.Gauge unreadable in the cockpit of the Icon. The pilot view with an angle on most of the lower dials make it very hard to read. Really miss the multiple views of EZCA that allows to focus on a part of the panel.Autogen is too sparse for my taste even at max settings. We can clearly see that nothing is drawn at a certain distance over the ground. There is close to none augogen building in most areas. Only tree. Some others noted the desolate world effect and for me its the second most important limitation of the current version with the Surround adjustment dificulty. Maybe it is just related to the fact that the first terrain is free. Is this the same in the add-on for others island? The details of the wheel on the Stearman and the shock absorbtion system are really good. Intersting to see the plane rool on rought terrain and the detailed animation at work. At par with the best add-on for FSX in a free model.Jury is still out about the replacement of my GA flying on FSX by FLIGHT. Unless the Surround and the lifeless word are solved in a future release or by add-on, I tend to prefer overall the FSX immersion factor even if Flight provide some advance in different areas. I will probably give a shot at the RV-Van this week-end just to test some others aspect of the software. But I ruled out that for me its more a SIM than a Game... even with the game elements...
