March 21, 200422 yr Luis,Thanks for your response. This is all fascinating stuff--it's a treat to be able to choose from two excellent renditions of the islands. One added note, the French version of "Antilles 2004" does use an "exe" file to install--and did cause a small problem on installation. (Though nothing that you couldn't handle. They tried to get FS2004 to recognize the scenery and that didn't work properly for my particular setup. In the readme.txt file, the authors recognize this possibility and suggest how to remedy it.) If you are interested in the eastern Caribbean, you might take a look. For more information, see Jean-Gabriel Laurent's page at: http://www.jg-laurent.com/index.php?lang=en And for many photos of a flight through the islands, see:http://skydig.free.fr/and in particularhttp://skydig.free.fr/index.php?page=aviationIf you are interested in the area, you might enjoy these pages. In the end, your doing a proper St. Martin, St. Bart, Barbuda and Antigua sounds like a project that the community would highly value. We all look forward to seeing the fruits of your labor.Best wishes,Mike --Mike MacKuen
March 21, 200422 yr Author Merci beaucoup, Mike, for the links. Very interesting, as I am always on the look-out for sources of information. The French scenery is reputed to be very good, and is highly recommended. There are a few problems due to a defective AFCAD file for Martinique, and because of the manner in which it inactivates some of the default bgls in the North America (NAME) folder.Dick Ludowise was kind enough to take a look at this for me and here are his comments, in case they may be of use to anyone else:"The file causing the problems with the Antilles project is an AFCAD2 file ( AF2_GANS.bgl )... I reworked the file to delete 2 oddly located Start Positions, and all now seems OK. For some reason, that original file crashes the sim near the Martinique airport, when using GPS. Who would have guessed.Several default files in "C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9SceneryNameScenery" have been deactivated by giving them an ".ant" extension. Nothing appears replaced there... just deactivated. That should have been expressly explained in the readme. Simmers might just try to deactivate the scenery through the Scenery Library, and then the default Scenery won't display! 15 files are deactivated by the ".ant" extension, but only 3 are HP files that would have required that... the rest could have been handled with exclusion BGLs.All that aside, the scenery looks very good. I don't know the source of their mesh or line/poly data, so I couldn't judge the accuracy.Dick"As for my Caribbean projects, they are really only made available to friends who might be interested in flying in the area. If you wish, just drop me a line and I shall keep you up to date on progress.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
