Why do the landing lights on some models appear as the big white orbs?

I've noticed that on some of my ngx aircraft, the landing lights appear as the big white orbs when I zoom out, but sometimes they manage to stay within their light fixture (does that make sense?). Anyone know why this happens? is it just me?mitch bowman
