March 10, 201214 yr Has anyone figured out how to set the default Eye-point forward yet? I don't like changing the the default zoom because it messes with the zoom of the world, not just in the cockpit. ((((( computer>C:>Users>UserX>AppData>Roaming>Microsoft>Flight> open Cameras.CFG with notepad and change InitialZoom under [CameraDefinition.002] from .06 to whatever)))))If you push ctrl+E it moves your head forward in the cockpit, while leaving the rest of the world at the same zoom.I use Backspace alot to reset eyepoint, so when looking around you just push Backspace to reset the view looking exactly straight forward, but unfortunately this resets the eyepoint forward position as well. It would be quit nice to set the default eyepoint position, so when you reset the eyepoint (Backspace) it goes to the position you like.
March 10, 201214 yr In the mean time I'm forced to set the default zoom to something else, because its to much of a pain resetting the eyepoint forward after every backspace reset. I seem to like .08 the best, I'm running 1920x1080 resolution on a 27 inch monitor so it will look different depending on your monitor.
March 10, 201214 yr I find on my 24" 1920x1200 display that setting InitialZoom = 0.75 allows me to actually read all the instruments clearly while still maintaining some peripheral vision. Before, I was frequently reaching for the mouse to zoom in on the panel a bit so I could read the smaller numbers. Zoom at 0.75 also takes away a little of the "Objects outside the window may be closer than they appear" effect on the world. That slightly unnatural distortion of the view outside probably wouldn't bother me if I hadn't lived on Oahu for 12 years, but it does.I would love to find a way to move the default eyepoint back a little, though.
March 10, 201214 yr I also didn't want to change the default zoom, but I have gone from 0.6 to 0.7 today. I also always used Control-E and zoom 0.7 is just a bit further back then I want, but you keep the sense of speed this way. Zooming to 0.8 forces me to use Control-Q again... (And btw zooming in isn't good for keeping textures sharp and crispy!) Zoom 0.7 is the best of both worlds for me right now. Great that I don't have to setup my view again after pressing Backspace. I am also running at 1080i.BTW You all know that when you zoom, you zoom in to where your mouse pointer is? Nice feature. I have to say that I more and more use the popup window you get when hovering the mouse over a gauge to read the gauges' setting (mp. rpm, course) because I don't like all that zooming...
