March 24, 200422 yr Hello,I've just started getting a problem with FS9. When in the cockpit, of any aircraft, the 2D panel will not display. The area where it should be remains black, but if you move the mouse over that area, the tool tip style label comes up indicating what instrument you are hovering over.If I push the hat switch to the left or right, I see the left or right side of the interior of the cockpit and the view through the windows as I should do, just the main panel when looking stariaght ahead is not there.I've done 2 re-installs and this did not solve the problem. Can anyone offer me any help? I've just got a new graphics card and would like to try it out.thanksAd
March 25, 200422 yr Hi,After installing this new video card did you go out and download and install the latest driver available for it? Before you install the latest drivers for this new video card you might want to download and run a utility called 'Driver Cleaner' to make sure the drivers and Windows Registry entires from your old video card are cleaned out of your sytem. You might want to list what your system specs are including this new video card.JimSystem Specs:3.06 GHz Intel P4 on Asus P4T533-C(533 MHz FSB), 1 GB PC1066 Samsung RDRAM, NEC MultiSync FE2111SB 22" Monitor, ATI Radeon 9700 Pro Videocard w/ v4.2 Catalyst Drivers, DirectX 9.0b, Creative Audigy2 Soundcard, 120 GB w/8 MB Cache Western Digital HD
March 25, 200422 yr Thanks for the responseI did download the latest drivers, but found that some things would no longer work, so I did a system restore to get back to the original drivers that came with the card.System specs: 2.0GHz Intel P4, Gainward FeForce FX5900 Ultra/1200XP 128MB DDR, two 40Gb Maxtor HD, one 120Gb Maxtor HD, 512Mb RAM, 17" Dell/Nokia monitor
March 27, 200422 yr Did you uninstall any (all)old graphics driver software from Add or Remove Programs before installing any new drivers? Might be worth a look there to see what remains. You could uninstall all graphics software anyway and start afresh. Any new previously downloaded driver file can be kept in the folder it was downloaded to as long as it isn't actually installed until needed ie after removing all others. At some point during the process specifically during a restart Windows will probably attempt to reinstall its own drivers which should not present a problem as far as I know. Then just install the drivers and associated software that you want to use. I did have a problem with a Gainward card which apparently did not suit the computer I had installed it to, though I don't know the reason.
