FSX Navigation Log With No Waypoints Help!

Featured Replies

I don't know if I should be posting this here but if I open up my NAV Log it says TNCM--->KMIA. But it shows no waypoints. How can I fix this?

When you go into Flight Planner, what Routing are you selecting. Direct-GPS will give you only the departure and arrival airports. Choose Low or High altitude airways or VOR - VOR to see more detailed routing.

You can use the options as Joe has suggested. However, I find that sometimes those options in FSX require too many course changes (albeit via the autopilot) which may or may not be factual in the real world. Rather, I set my own Waypoints (eg. a route from EGLL to KORD may require only about four Waypoints (or whatever you wish), requiring fewer course changes, which in my view is more realistic for airliners). If you want to try this, do the following: after selecting GPS as your option and you find the route on the map, you will see only the two airports (one at departure and the other at arrival). Select various points on the route, left-clicking on that point and dragging to whichever position you want to fly to (only slight changes are needed just to give a realistic look). That will register as Waypoint 1. Sometimes you may find that you may have clicked on an existing VOR, Airport, etc. Then delete that entry from your Flight Plan and try another point along your route. Do the same with the other points you have selected. Sometimes using this method on a long haul flight, I find that I can even cut down slightly on flying time (and fuel) by positioning the Waypoints wisely. You can then check on the flight plan whether you have actually decreased or increased your fuel/time.Hope this gives you another option to play with and see whether it's more preferable to your type of flying.Chris David
