crash to desk top

Featured Replies

In last couple of weeks, I have have twice had FS9 crash to desktop: a problem I never encountered before. There is no problem at the desktop, just with FS9.This occurs after about 1.5 hours flight at altitude - most recently climbing from 32,000 to 36,000 over southern France.I have read in these forums that there is some suspicion about seasonal textures. Is that a problem only at the airfield or in loading FS9 or does it occur at altitude, well into a flight? It does strike me that I would have been approaching the Pyrennees and therefore picking up snowy textures for the first time in the flight, albeit at a distance.I have been using the Bluesphere replacement textures for a while without problem. I have used various alternate cloud sets in an attempt to improve framerates.I have a couple of other suspects lurking at the back of my mind from things I have changed recently.1) I have been using FSMeteo successfully for a while, with on-line updates switched off. Updates are still off, but I have just gone over to broadband. Could there be an effect with a broadband modem? The timing of the connection change matches that of the crashes.2) Somewhile ago I worked through the tweaks supplied by OneTinSoldier (topic 149511) and blackviper.com. These didn't create a problem intitially but is anyone aware of cumulative problems developing?I know I'm scraping the barrel here, but it is very strange that this has just started out of the blue

Thanks for thatI have been seeing a few minor problems with Windows Explorer unrelated to FS9 so I reversed the blackviper.com configuration changes (from his "safe" to "home" category)and re-ran the same flight on autopilot/GPS at a similar height and with the same FSMetar file in operation. It's only a single test, but the flight ran on beyond the point at which it had crashed before.Admittedly, as the flight ran automatically there was no ATC, no fiddling with things on the panel and much less switching of views to admire the scenery etc!I think before I make any more changes to the setup, I'll see if the problem has gone away.
