April 10, 200422 yr Hianyone know what or how I can use to open / edit an aircraft MDL file with please,I'm trying to open up an aircraft mdl file in the PSS Dash8 plane so that I can look for and hopefully slow down the prop spin up/down of the props on the dash8 as I think it's far too fast.thank'sSteve.
April 10, 200422 yr There's nothing in an MDL file that controls prop rotation speeds, just what is displayed at certain prop speeds. That info is in the airfile and aircraft.cfg, although I have never had any luck getting props to slow down at different rates myself.Besides, most people wouldn't want there to be a way to "reverser engineer" MDL files anyways...
April 10, 200422 yr Hi Nick, thank's for replying, I'd still like to have a look though, any pointers would be most welcomeSteve
April 10, 200422 yr Hi,I'm pretty sure you would have to edit the .air file to slow down the winding up/down of props (this would probably affect the flight dynamics). The props are controlled using stock animation and are not keyframed, so even if you could extract the mdl you wouldn't be able to change the values in GMAX or FSDS.Regards,Clever Pete
April 10, 200422 yr Add prop_anim_ratio=1.72 to the fltsim section of the aircraft.cfgI used this to prevent the engine fans from stopping their rotation at 100% throttle.
