How much space does AS2012 really require prepurchase question

I see that the purchase information on AS 2012 mentions at one point 25GB available and at another point 100GB hard drive space needed. The latter is a huge amount, and I am not sure I have the room or want one program to take up that much space.

 

How much space then does a standard working installation really need on my hard drive?

 

Also I live in US how do I avoid paying the VAT when I purchase it online?
