Migrating from win7 pro 32 bit to 64 bit.

Recommended Posts

I have a hdd with win7 pro 32 bit on it which will not run the pmdg 737 ngx. So I have purchased another oem of win7 pro 64 bit. Should the update/upgrade be seamless or will I have to install many programs again? This drive also has all my fsx installations (many add-ons). I really don't want to lose them.

Unfortunately you have to perform a clean install.

From MS: http://windows.micro...asked-questions

"If you want to move from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows 7 or vice versa, you'll need to back up your files and choose the Custom option during Windows 7 installation. Then, you'll need to restore your files and reinstall your programs."

Me I'd go for a clean install, its a pain but you will have an unencumbered system.

Good Luck
