AS2012 vs REX/Overdrive

Featured Replies

Just purchased AS2012 last night. Have been a REX user for the past two years. I must say, I've seen a huge difference in frame rates. Even with a Black Widow 850w psu and an Nvidia 560ti on a quad core system with 8mb ram I was still having to lower my texture and resolution settings when using REX weather. This is probably due to the addon airports I usually fly out of and into and due to the addon aircraft I usually fly. (i.e. PMDG 737ngx, LDS 767, etc.) However, with AS2012 I have been able to significantly raise my settings and maintain higher fps using live weather than I ever did with REX. This, of course, adds to the realism of the sim and gives a better overall experience. Admittedly, I just started using this so I'm not an expert by any means. These are just my first impressions. If this is the kind of resolution I can expect all the time then I have to say, AS2012 beats REX any day of the week. REX has beautiful textures but the frame rate hit, to me, is not worth it. IMHO.
